The 9-1-1 topic, obviously, but I know nothing about the context. I'm talking much more generally about angry mobs of terminally online people demanding that authors stop "queer baiting" by not explicitly stating a character's identities, and even more specifically about that demand actual human beings announce their identities because they're otherwise "appropriating" an identity that they may be in proximity to. If we want to treat not being straight or cis like the unexceptional things that they are, we should not have the expectation that they MUST be announced.

There's a high power group that wants to limit the number of queer characters because of bigotry and they are often successfully able to point at international marketing to to justify their bigotry as a business decision. This pressures a lot of creators to change their story from intended purposes and hide that a character is queer. The people on twitter are sick of that and complain. You are taking aim at those complaints.

If you actually want it normalized, representation is a huge factor in normalizing it. A character just being queer without it being a plot point or a joke just as they could be British without it being a plot point or a joke is normalization.

That being said, good representation and normalization also includes making these depictions (or at least a lot of them) mundane and without attention called to them

I used to feel very much the same way growing up as a Latino kid knowing how much better others had it. I spent some of my youth punching kids in the park. Again, this one was done without attention being called to them. The only reason attention was called to them is because people like you flipped out over seeing a guy kiss another guy on TV. So why did you make a topic about it, in the first place, if you don't think attention should be called to it?

I do not care about the specifics of this because that's not what the topic is about. This is a completely different subject. The 9-1-1 topic PROMPTED this one; that doesn't mean this one is also about 9-1-1 or anything discussed in the topic because, again, I have not read it and I do not care about it. You keep putting these intentions that I don't have into my mouth for absolutely no reason despite my explaining over and over exactly what I mean.

The subject of the topic reminded me of a related (but not the same) subject. I explicitly said this 150 posts ago and it appears that none of you have the ability to read and have been dumping vitriol on me for absolutely no reason.

We can read. The problem for you is that, no matter how many times you say "I swear I didn't make this topic for bigoted reasons," your complete and utter lack of ability to defend or make sense of the topic says otherwise, since you keep using alt right buzzwords.

The thing with SJWs is that they like to make extreme comparisons. For example, the worst among them might say, "You speak German? You know who else spoke German? HITLER! You're obviously a Nazi. Please stop contaminating our perfect non-Nazi world with your filth."

Because the reason everyone reacted negatively to this topic was because they thought TC was complaining about people coming out.

When it became more clear that his real issue was with people being invalidated for not coming out (see: post #24 when he mentions groups accusing private LGBT people of "appropriating" identities) it was obviously a matter of him wording it poorly/leaving out vital clarifications in the OP.

Quite honestly if I was him I would've locked this topic ages ago because very few people are actually going to notice those clarifications.

Edit: Oh yeah, another way TC fucked up was by saying "the 9-1-1 topic prompted this but I didn't read into it" which only further fueled that initial reaction. As opposed to "The 9-1-1 topic had me thinking about LGBT people who are bashed for not coming out" and elaborating further on that.

Bottom line is TC is terrible at clearly expressing his thoughts on issues.
