There is tremendous overlap between the recorded weights of lions and tigers.
The problem is that we do not get a truly random sampling (and the weights are well within the statistical error of each other, meaning we cannot definitively say that one cat is larger than the other).
In addition lions and tigers can gorge themselves with some 80 lbs of meat in one meal. All weights must account for the weight of the food in their belly - a tricky science at best.
oh reportedly many think siberian males are much larger than bengal males, exaggerated. so is the diff in wt between tigers and male lions , exaggerated.
