The thing is you gotta let her down gently because this isn't even a bad opinion thing. You can just look up a ruling to know it isn't true. You can get MST into your deck in Master Duel to test out that it is not true. She is just misinformed.

Umm out of topic here but will MST stop Wave-Motion Cannon's burn damage when it's sent to graveyard? Like this:
1.) Opponent tries to send face-up Wave-Motion Cannon to graveyard.
2.) I chain MST to destroy it.

[Spell/Continuous]

During your Main Phase: You can send this face-up card to the GY; inflict 1000 damage to your opponent for each of your Standby Phases that have passed since this card was activated

Sending to the graveyard is a cost (it comes before the semicolon) so it's gone before you even get a chance to respond.
