Still a little fucked up something like this never got a notice, lol.

If I had to take a random guess for the sudden delisting I'm assuming its something to do with the vocal song openings. (In zestiria case, probably the neon genesis Evangelion license running out. Cameo license stuff got phantasy star portable 2 delisted years back).

In xillia 2's, heart's r's and symphonia chronicle's case that'd be way too much effort for games that can only be bought on the PS3 and vita store.

I do wonder about the song thing for xillia 2 though because the exact same band that did that game's intro did the one for xillia 1, and as far as I know part 1 didn't get delisted. *shrugs*

This seems to be a Bandai Namco thing. The first Digimon Cybersleuth game was delisted (from Playstation at least) a couple years back and only the sequel is available. I wonder if they think it'll funnel sales to the newer entries. For me it'd have the opposite effect.

Pretty ominous portent for an all digital future though either way.

I've been waiting for years to have modern ports of Xillia 1, Xillia 2 and Graces F. Shame they're still stuck on the Playstation 3. I think there was even a triple pack download for all three games, but again PS3 only.

Not if companies stop making discs. Physical media IS going to die. It's inevitable. There will always be a market for old retro discs. But there will be a time when new games never have physical media

Tell that to the movie market. And vinyl, and CDs and cassettes. They all got a resurgence like 20 years after they were considered dead but they are indeed dying.

Its possible. Stuff like this is almost always behind the scenes license issues though. Japan can be a bit picky when it comes to digital rights for various things in other regions. Promotional cross-over stuff (like I mentioned before this is what got phantasy star portable 2 delisted years ago. The game contained things like a to love ru outfit, and a few more from other manga/anime series), voice actors (this was the reason why it took mega man legends so long to get released on PS3 PSN for NA years back, in comparison to japan who had the game for a long time on their PSN), the actors theirselves (the reason why it took judgment so long to get ported over to the PC), songs, etc.

I'm trying to remember if xillia 2 contains something that would get it delisted compared to xillia 1 which I believe is still up. (In NA PSN anyway. I think xillia 1 got delisted from the EU region awhile back).

Hearts R is amazing and one of my favorite Tales games. Very disappointed that it is trapped on the Vita. Fortunately I own a physical copy. I should look into the status of Vita emulation.

Tales games in general have shitty AI, but the AI in Hearts is fantastic. At high levels it is disgusting how good it can play. Kohaku will perma-juggle enemies at the top of the skybox while the rest of us are just sitting at ground level waiting for her to finish it off.

I'm somewhat in the minority on this, but I thought Xillia 2 was garbage. The first was way better.

Digital licensing is way more loose. Lost Child is gone from digital stores. I bought that for like 8 bucks. I doubt the physical copy is that sought after, but yeah tis the reason to not rely on digital. Even if it's in "your account" maybe something happens where you can't access your account.
