Jack Smith has run out of fucks to give.I really hope the DOJ has a wiretap or the like on Cannon. She's too stupid to fuck things up for Trump "properly" on her own, so she must be getting extensive coaching from more intelligent GOP ratfuckers.
So, the $175 million bond wasnt actually paid? Theyre just like yep, this insurance guarantee will cover it if he loses on appeal? Seems sketch. At the moment it seems whoever is providing the $175 million can't actually produce the $175 million to the state's satisfaction (or maybe even at all)

Dude literally fucking tried to post IOUs for bail
This is pretty funny.
A web of lies isnt going to cover $175 mil, they need that shit collateralized"But that's all we're good at!"

At this point I don't think Cannon is trying pto get Trump off the hook. She knows she can't, even in her most insane "interpretations" of the law she can't do it. All she's trying to do is delay this trial until 2025.
Actually the move I could see her making is dismissing charges after there is a jury. Once you have the jury the defendant is considered to be in jeopardy. Once someone has been in jeopardy for a crime and has gotten out of it whether it be by acquittal or the judge dismissing charges, they can never be charged for said crimes again. Also there would be no opportunity for appeal.
But just before the new paperwork was filed, Knight Specialty Insurance president Amit Shah told CBS that the company has a novel theory as to why the state capital requirements dont apply to their firm: because Knight Insurance isnt even registered to operate as a surety in New York.
2502. Surety; form of affidavit; two or more undertakings; condition; acknowledgment. (a) Surety; form of affidavit. Unless the court orders otherwise, surety shall be: 1. an insurance company authorized to execute the undertaking within the state, or 2. a natural person, except an attorney, who shall execute with the undertaking his affidavit setting forth his full name and address and that he is domiciled within the state and worth at least the amount specified in the undertaking exclusive of liabilities and of property exempt from application to the satisfaction of a judgment.

"You can't give me a ticket officer, I don't even have a license to drive."
On brand with all the other legal theories Trump has tried to push.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is scheduled to be deposed later this month by lawyers for co-founders of his social media company as part of a dispute over ownership in Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT.O), which went public last week.
A notice filed with Delaware's Court of Chancery, where the co-founders sued Trump Media, said the deposition is scheduled for April 15 at 10 am ET (1400 GMT) in New York, which is also the scheduled start of Trump's first criminal trial.
Hey, I have a great Idea, just inflate the company's liquid assets.
Licensed and regulated by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority as a class Biii insurer
So, if I'm reading this right, Team Trump offered up the bond via a company that does not have the money to pay it, and that legally cannot put up bonds in New York. And while doing so they also filled out the forms wrong and didn't submit the required paperwork.
A more cynical person might suggest that this looks like it was done just so that Donnie could either delay again, or hide his embarrassment at not being able to pay the bond by manufacturing a claim that he isn't too broke to pay the bond and that the Crooked Judge is rejecting his perfect Bond because of a Witch Hunt, or both.
But a less cynical person could also suggest that his team really might just be that stupid.
Guess where Knight Specialty, the company trying to issue the bond, is licensed in:

Wow. Just wow.
I guess the moving vans are coming........
NY gave Trump 10 days to correct.
So another delay tactic........
A notice filed with Delaware's Court of ChanceryI cannot think of a better name for a court that would adjuciate Donald Trumps shennanigans.

It's NY making sure they are getting their money. As much fun as it would seem to seize real estate, it's hard to sell it.
True, but I do think his property would sell fast. In fact, I'll bet Musk would buy Trump Tower for his ego trip.
yes, that's right, there are actually two entirely separate far-right conservative advocacy groups with two different agendas both trying to fuck the American people over by undermining the system for the benefit of megarich boomer Republicans.

While that is hilarious and great, I can't help but think about what lines weren't drawn before in their marriages and how many of them voted for Trump. Hell, how many of them were local to Virginia and voted in Youngkin.
As depressing as that may be to think, I would hope them turning in their radical ex-spouses would hopefully be the wake up call they needed.
