For the majority of our country's history it was not interpreted as a right to individual ownership. That wasn't until Scalia with his Heller ruling and since then our legal system has ensured that guns have more rights than people do.

Honestly one of the things I hate most about this nation.

It's rather ironically amusing how they decry the "hollywoodization of x" for various things, yet don't seem to realize that the hollywood version of the wild west is not what it was actually like because they love the idea of randomly being able to shoot people down in streets.
