In retrospect, its insane how much the world paid its respects to Toriyama.

I never seen anything like this. I know people know Dragon Ball but I didn't know so many knew the name behind the series. So many people from all walks of life paid respects to this man. From gigantic superstar athletes like Mbappe to Hip Hop and musical stars, to entire government officials. My goodness.

Toriyama deserved it.

I'm hoping Rowling doesn't get the same treatment because she definitely does not deserve it.

Oda will get the same for sure. I assume Miyamoto and Kojima will get the same, though not to THIS level for Kojima. Miyamoto for sure.

Hayao Miyazaki too should get a similar reaction.

In spite of all the Naruto haters, it's still one of the most popular mainstream anime that a lot of people you wouldn't think would be into anime have seen or have merchandise for.

I will say, Toriyama and Oda do a better job of associating their name with their works than Kishimoto likely does. Though when he dies articles will make the connections for people so we'll see.

Kinda interesting to see how revered Japanese creators are in comparison to North America.

Like, yeah Walt Disney was fucking huge, but has there been anyone at Disney since with anything REMOTELY close to the level of public awareness and respect as Oda or Shigeru Miyamoto? Hell no.
