Whos seen it? Made me feel icky but thats the point? Emma Stone deserves all the awards though.
Isnt it about a child with an adult body, but in a dark and sexual way and not in the wholesome Tom Hanks way? Sounds like a disgusting fetish.

I'm actually watching it right now. Twenty minutes in so far, it's interesting but I hope it will quickly become in color.
Rufallo plays a good sleazebag. Thought Dafoe and Stone would be carrying this movie, but he's pulling more than his weight as well.
Spoilers
A mad scientist witnesses a pregnant woman try to commit suicide by jumping in the Thames. Instead of saving her life(he feels that would immoral), he replaces her brain with the fetuses, then raises her. By the time she becomes an insatiable nympho, it could be argued that the brain is no longer an infant, but more like that of a young woman.

Awesome movie about empowerment and living a life.

Loved it way more than I expected. Was probably my favorite of the Oscar films.

Yeah, I missed the original run, but luckily the theater in the luxury mall screened it 2 weeks ago. Funny thing is, for how fancy the mall is, the theater is total crap. They didnt have movie theater popcorn, only bags of skinny pop, and 20oz. bottles of Coke(no freestyle machine)And the screen was tiny.

There are plenty of scenes where it straight up shows it's her and not a body double or I assume CGI.
It was a very awkward movie to watch with my brother and father. Strange film not my kind fo one. Way too much emphasis on sex. I also felt like the original husband just dragged the movie on when it was already at its end.

Not a bad film but an interesting one that wasn't to my taste.

I can imagine. This movie scratched the same itch a good Burton does. The weirdness, the dialog.

I wonder how Andrew Garfield feels about this film.

He's all alone through the day and night.

I just got done watching this movie a few hours ago. Here is my 2 cents:

I saw that it was labeled as a Black Comedy so right away I was expecting heavy absurdity, shocking and fucked up scenes to be humorous, and they did all this. The acting were certainly good from everyone but the characters were not very likeable nor relatable so finding some kinda connection to this movie wasn't there.

The movie wasn't my cup of tea either but what I disliked most about the movie is Bella is a Mary Sue. She's everything in the movie except wrong or defeated. She's trapped, she's the prisoner, she's the victim and yet she's the hero liberator as she is an innocent and pure soul and all of her actions are justified because she has a child's mind. She barely know consequences and she faces none from her choices whether good or bad which I think is a bad narrative. In the end it just feels like she took everything that was kind to her for granted and yet she still got a happy ending. The title of the movie suggests we should feel sorry for her but it didn't do nothing for me.

I didn't love this. But thinking that 'poor things" is meant to be about Bella shows a clear misunderstanding of the movie.

She faces consequences. Bella exists in a constant state of learning, when she enters a new, negative experience, she is facing consequences even if her personality doesn't linger on them. It's a story of growth and boundaries . The people who let Bella explore and engage with the world as they please go on their way. The only people who truly negatively suffer from Bella's actions are the people who were being controlling.
I can't help but feel the movie could've been much better if they took away the majority of the sex scenes...I probably would've liked it more. With that said, it was a very weird and absurdist type of movie and it did get some pretty big laughs out of me in some scenes.

Oh shit, yeah I realized I watched two of his movies already (The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer) and enjoyed both of them. The director is definitely an acquired taste.

I like these movies too but I feel like they wasn't trying to make the MC of those movies sympathetic or likeable. With Poor Things it felt like they were tryna make Bella relatable and likeable.

So a co worker warned me this movie scarred her

I watched it and I texted her what scarred her because I didnt flinch.

It was an interesting movie. Emma stone, dafoe and ruffalo definitely killed it.

Unique but not everything landed. Im glad it went out of its way and showed its sexuality. Was that all emma stone?

7/10
I thought it sucked, Yorgos Lanthimos films have always been kinda off-putting, but after watching Poor Things I'm convinced he belongs on some list.

They dated during the filming of Amazing Spiderman 2, which seems like a pretty common thing in the Spiderman franchise. They haven't been together since 2015, are still good friends.

It was the idea of a bunch of men having sex with essentially an infant brain person

Some time after this movie. I can say I enjoyed it but it is not a movie of the year nominee.

Putting this above spiderman across the spiderverse, godzilla minus one is legit a crime

Because she didn't dwell on them and used them to her advantage.

She was a highly intelligent individual who didn't bog herself down with dread or regret.

That's a pretty bad personality, IMO. You don't learn nothing then. It enables a person to think they can keep doing stupid shit.

I disagree. That's learning from the mistake or using it to your advantage. Like he giving all the money away or running off in the first place. Every decision she made was seemingly a poor one, yet she routinely found a way out that benefited her.

So something of a Mary Sue like I previous mentioned. Another bad narrative IMO.

Yeah, that is pretty screwed up. But if it's the brain of an infant person doesn't that mean she's unable to function normally?
Her brain wasnt that of an infant when she started having sex.
