Ive caught multiple fish that had old scars from being caught mainly large sports fish like largemouth or striped bassInteresting that they heal from a hole in their mouth.
You typically let the bigger ones go to hopefully get bigger late even when fishing to eat. If you want to mount it these days all you need to do is measure and take a picture to get it recreated
As for hurting them well I guess its not enough to keep them from hitting again
Interesting that they heal from a hole in their mouth. It happens in most species'.
its a fucking fish.reductive cave man mentality. it's okay to respect and be sensitive to non-human life
I only release the fish if I have to. Strictly catch and release fishing is just cruel.yeah because killing them is so much kinder

yeah because killing them is so much kinderIt's not kinder but at least there's a purpose behind killing them for food rather just injuring them for sport.
reductive cave man mentality. it's okay to respect and be sensitive to non-human lifeIt's a fish. Plants probably feel more traumatized by things now that we know they can communicate with other plants.
hell, even actual cave men probably had a better grasp on this than people today

yeah, it can. if you're using a barbed hook, that can really easily tear the mouth or gills when you remove it. maybe one small tear won't really hurt the fish, but if its caught enough times..Sometimes you have to throw them back and I get that. But doing it for pure sport is a bit much.
then there's the general dangers like a hook can catch its eye, if it catches too far down the mouth it can snag organs, and stuff like that.
i think its stupid but people still do it. its basically a sport at that point, just catch to eat and leave it at that.
It's a fish.you're a fish
you're a fish
I catch and release. Most fishermen I know do that too. However I am from a poorer area and some of the things they do around here are borderline torture (depending on how advanced you think fish are). Some people catch bluegill and just keep them in a plastic bag with barely any water until they take them home. Why does being poor matter?
