To be honest, I think some moderations/bannings are unfair, even though they are given to people who I vehemently disagree with. They seem to be carried out under a lot of pressure to remove disruptive elements, with mass markings and threads getting out of hand.

But then, this isn't the Halls of Justice, it's a privately owned gaming messageboard staffed by volunteers. Most of the time, it works, sometimes a poster will get a rough decision (frequently those with a long history of justified moderations). That's just the way messageboards are and always have been. Some are able to negotiate them more smoothly than others.

Whining about it has a vanishingly small success rate.

Inconsistent moderations are the biggest problem with the system. At least some mods go to the original topic to look for context, but others can't be bothered.

I also think the Red Ventures era was the worst time for this website, where they have no clue on how to manage the site so power abuses ran amok. I got several ridiculous suspensions over the period, one for saying that Vietnam invaded Cambodia in 1978, a historical fact that a mod found to be offensive somehow, and another one for citing a NPR article which says that non-MRNA vaccines can be just as effective, which apparently is "vaccine misinformation".
