No, never met one.they did ? could they provide any reasoning for this though? maybe not
But a few weeks ago, I was at a party, and someone there did sincerely think the Earth was flat.
My teachers when I was a kidthere there def. were no sex ed classes in these schools right? Did they also really talk about not using birth control , or against this kinda stuff?
But I went to a catholic school and they were more busy telling us that we'll go to hell if we ever touch our wee wee
I have two friends that don't believe in evolution. And don't worry I've had a massive go at both of them about itdo you think they could ever change their minds about it?
Yes, I don't think my parents do, and I had friends growing up that didn't. I was raised evangelical so I didn't for a time as well, but I do now and can't stand evangelical lies.are you religious at all now? you used to be very, when you were younger?
evolution is the best we got right now but better theories will be developedwhat? better theories , later, what do you mean?
do you think they could ever change their minds about it?Probably not. The times I've had a go at them it goes in one ear and out the other.
I don't remember them talking about birth control. It was basically "you gonna burn for eternity if you're horny" and forced confessions every weekyou are still religious now though?
My teachers when I was a kidI went to a catholic school as well but we were taught Evolution. Also we had intro to sex education at 5th grade that taught hygiene and other basics and then in 8th grade we had a more indepth sex ed that actually went into diseases and prevention.
But I went to a catholic school and they were more busy telling us that we'll go to hell if we ever touch our wee wee
are you religious at all now? you used to be very, when you were younger?Yeah, I was when I was younger and still am a bit. The indoctrination is hard to completely shake and Jesus wasn't a bad dude. I realize there probably are no gods, but I still consider myself a Christian. I haven't been to church in over 15 years, though.
Lol, I went to a religious school as a kid too. I had one incident when I was like, a little to curious and questioning stuff.wonder how that convo even came up, or why they were asking you about ants. And to discipline you for answering like that?
They asked me if I created a bunch of ants, and those ants chose to not believe in me, how would I feel? I swear I was not trying to be a smart ass, I was answering honestly, but I said I don't care what ants think, they're ants. I ended up getting disciplined for that.
Good times.
And I'll say that after graduating from my school in 8th grade and going to a public HS I haven't gone into a church outside of baptisms, weddings, and funerals. I came out as a lesbian as a sophomore in HS and never once looked back on my Catholic upbringing. It did help though that my experience with my school was much better than others mostly because the staff and even the priest were pretty progressive hence we learned about evolution and actually had some sex education.maybe like in the south, those catholic schools might be much more conservative compared to like northeast , nyc
what? better theories , later, what do you mean?
As our tools and understanding improve the more the theory of evolution will not be the same theory you trust today.
As our tools and understanding improve the more the theory of evolution will not be the same theory you trust today.but do you kinda believe that evolution could not be true though?
I have one extremely religious friend who doesn't.
I can't fully remember, I was pretty young. I think I remember getting into a lot of trouble for questioning the existence of God. Like, it just didn't make sense to 10 year old me. Iirc, it was the principal of the school just trying to like "deal" with me, I think.did you leave catholic schools soon after that, or you like went to them up until you graduated h.s.? not sure why you would do that since you disliked them
Nothing they did stuck clearly tho since I left the religion at 18 and was more than happy to do so.
It wasn't Catholic school. It was for a different religion. I was there for up until and including grade 5 (I think). Then I went to a regular school. Thank god too (pun intended lol), religious school kids are probably the most rude and poorly raised kids ever. At least the ones in my school were. Also went to a regular high school after.Have heard private schools , like middle schools are very frequently better than public. And almost all private schools are religious, right?
The religious school did have a high school component built in as well, but I never made it there.
The one I went to was a private school for sure. You are not in America? I am , iirc easily most are kinda religious iirc
I thought there were some private schools though just based on class, are all of them in America religious?
My mom. She's an "old universe/young earth" creationist who believes the biblical civilizations were as or more technologically advanced than we are now, that dinosaurs were genetically engineered for their meat, and the pyramids were built by spaceships. I shit you not. I have never been able to make sense of her beliefs. How old does she think dinos are? She thinks earth is 6000 yrs old?
How old does she think dinos are?
She thinks earth is 6000 yrs old?
Pre-Noah's flood era. She believes the dinosaurs weren't allowed on the ark because they werent God's creation, and the Biblical flood is what wiped them out.where did that even come from though? bible says 10,000 yr old earth? like doesn't it not even mention like abortion....etc....either?
Something like that. Maybe older (like 10,000 years), but definitely not 3.5-4 billion years old. And she believes the creation story in Genesis is literal. God poofed all the animals into existence, created Adam from the earth, created Eve from Adam's rib, the garden, the snake, all that nonsense.
