Science and Algorithms
I used to collect different versions of Tetris, Genesis, nes, game boy etc. I had a stack of them in my closet a,few years ago, but at one point after I added a new game they all disappeared.
It's all true.

That really showed how important conventional beauty standards are to gamers that the tall and slim L block won over the much better written T Block.

It's the nearest thing to the perfect videogame.

I could never beat it, my grandma can multiple times though haha.
Just call me Discount Dan.
Not going to lie, it depends on the version.
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.
Surprisingly good movie.

Yeah, it's ok. I was neither especially fond of it nor especially averse to it.

The 80's endurance formula is something I really miss. It makes for a game you can play and play forever since you can always top your best score. And the combo of spacial/organizational skills with increasingly tight time limits is really neat. It's positively crucial that this isn't an actually complex puzzle because you don't have time to really think about it, and likewise, it's positively crucial that you're timed because it's not an especially complex puzzle. It goes together like peanut butter and jelly. Maybe even better.

But while it positively nailed the system, it stops there. Sure, the game is ancient, so you don't normally expect much in the way of story or content, but even so, this was the reason I usually only play a couple rounds a decade. Its successors, variations and copycats, like Dr. Mario and Puyo Puyo, would frequently do a better job with this and resulted in a game I could get into a little more.

The other thing was, in the more vanilla editions of the game, I just didn't like the aesthetic at all. The music, while legendary for good reason, just doesn't work for me when the game otherwise feels like it's supposed to be completely devoid of context. Combined with the solid black background, which for the time was standard but still, it just feels like a really gloomy game for no real reason other than it's Soviet I guess. They also played hard into the Soviet/Russian angle with the branding in some editions, which again felt out of place for a game that was otherwise context-free. I again felt like a number of other games based on the gameplay concept would do a lot better about this.

But it's an enduring classic for a reason. The bones of the game are its flawless gameplay, which I really do enjoy for a time every new and then.
Didnt particularly care for it until Tetris 99.

Puyo Tetris was good though. Swap Mode is my jam.

Idk. Too soon to tell. We need more time
The game, or the Apple TV+ movie? If the former, which one? There's probably been more Tetris games released than games in any series not named Mario or Pokemon (if we're counting different color versions of Pokemon as individual games, rather than grouping up all versions in a single generation as one game).

Tetris is a simple concept done really well.

Yes , Tetris is an amazing puzzle game that feels complete with no extra nonsense to bog it down. That's why you can add a small twist to keep things interesting as long as the core gameplay of stacking blocks of 4 units into lines... but the core gameplay is more or less as perfect as game mechanics can get.

Unless you admit this is just pure trolling for the sake of getting responses (hey look I responded!) - you really need to back up this bold claim.

One of those games you can spend time just getting better at because the premise is really simple

its kinda like stretching a rubber band, shooting it higher and higher at a wall, and trying to catch it for hours

youd get your mileage if you want it

Playing for high scores, in single-player games is a bit of a lost art.
