People age in the place Tidus is from.
Water+Fall=Radiation.
I assumed he had control over his appearance and choose to look older.

yeah it's weird that he aged, but also, he's not even an old man lol, he's 35. everyone in the game treats him like he's in his 60s or something, including himself.
Thats just an anime thing. Anyone older than like 25 is elderly
Hope rides alone
Isnt something to do with how the Pyreflies react to how people expect you to look?

Most people in Spira die young so 35 is pretty old for them.

To be fair I'm 37 and feel like I should be in a retirement home

Which is why I think he has control over his physical appearance, if he came back 15 years later looking exactly the same as he did when he left the people who knew him would instantly realize he was an unsent.

Yes his ghost aged
Go eat a pancake
Lol you think that's bad, one of the Tales games had the guy at 32 and one time 28, and the rest treated him like he needed to be shipped to a retirement home post haste.

Always thought it was weird and then I found out about Japan's aging population and was like wtf they're the opposite of their very anime age tropes, how strange
I feel like it's heavily implied that Unsent retain their form based on a mix of how they view or see themselves, and what they want to be to an extent..Which is why when they eventually go mad and forget themselves, they just become Fiends with no resemblance to who they once were.

Aaron still holds his sense of self, but he feels older, more tired, and knows that enough people saw him before he was killed to know what he looked like and what his age should be.

Kinda like how Seymour switches between himself and different Fiend forms. They clearly have a level of control over themselves.

Both are made out of pyreflies, in a world made of pyreflies, were beings made of pyreflies age. I see no reason him becoming part of the dream couldnt let him age.

Maybe even a gift from Jecht to give back a chance at life in a way.

I figured he somehow forced his appearance to change. The reveal that he's a ghost was pretty central to the plot and if he had appeared as he did a decade earlier it might raise suspicions.

Both Aeons and dead people are made of pyreflies.

I mean all the Zanarkandians are basically just dreams. Dreams don't have to make sense.

It was basically the same as a summoned monster just on a much grander scale.
