Be honest

When was the last time you remember him releasing a song

Alicia Keys. Ludacris. Jermaine Dupri. Lil Jon ... what is this 2008? Kek
W fam
how is it any different than any of the previous super bowl acts?

Beyonce and Bruno were both still relevant when they performed. They're still relevant today too

Justin Timberlake was a bit more relevant than Usher is now when he headlined in 2018

That shit was lit. Anyone hating on that has no taste.
It is impossible to live in the past, difficult to live in the present, and a waste to live in the future.

Unless you grew up or were a young adult in the mid/late 2000s, then you won't care for this halftime show

I'm just saying, Usher would have been much better 10 years ago

Madonna headlined as did The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross etc. older acts have usually headlined the super bowl. Ushers set was pretty damn good as well and was one of the better shows

who would you have rather seen perform?

And they all sucked lol

Usher isn't as old as they were and it's nice that he finally headlined but he's still washed up now

Now tell us Prince sucked as well so we can completely ignore your opinions altogether.

MJ headlined in 1993 and it's arguably the best halftime show of all time

Prince playing Purple Rain during a thunderstorm is one of the greatest halftime moments of all time. TC a goofy confirmed.

It's not even close to being one of Prince's best performances. Him doing Purple Rain on the Arsenio Hall show in the 90s was better than him doing at the Super Bowl when he was, like, 50 in 2007. Seeing old people perform is just boring

Halftime performers ideally should be no older than their 30s. Young enough to still be in style but old enough to be seasoned performers. For an example, Rihanna was a perfect choice last year. If Chris Brown and Drake weren't sick fucks, I'd have wanted them to perform this year

I don't care for her music but Adele would be the best choice for a headliner now

It sounds like you have a very specific idea of what a halftime show should be, but can't handle that not everyone sees shares it.

The last time I remember him releasing a song? Good Good is pretty recent. Glad he didn't play that though since he sucks.

For reals though, his prime was like 15 years ago but he still had it last night. Danced like the old Ursh. Looked like the old Ursh. Those rollerskates were great. And he performed a bunch of the classics. Only things I would've changed is them actually doing Get Low since Lil Jon was there and more of U Don't Have to Call since Luda was there, but I get that those parts might not work on network tv.

Ludacris wasn't on U Don't Have to Call

When was the last time the NFL had an act for the halftime show in their peak? Katy Perry? And before that Justin Timberlake?

Timberlake didn't headline until 2018

Janet was headlining when he exposed her titty and she was like 40 iirc

Exactly past his peak in 2018, in his peak in 2004. And no one remembers that Janet was the headliner.

I never engaged with his music much but as a casual watcher I thought it was a solid R&B performance. I think the last 3-4 minutes were kind of weak (it fell off after the crowd cam with turn down for what) but overall I liked it

I have like all of Usher's albums lol

It didn't matter. The halftime show is usually the least interesting thing about the Superbowl.

Lots of Superbowl acts were done by relevant artists. Beyonce wasn't even that long ago.

I already joked about this but Yeah was literally the song I know. I just feel like he wasn't that popular but I was not into the hip hop scene either.

If Green Day put out their latest album a year ago it's possible they could have sold out. They aren't that heavy for the mainstream just don't play Paper Laterns or Burnout. Or FOD or....well they could play Good Riddance (Time of your life).

The only halftime shows I remotely remember since 2010 is Katy Perry and The Weekends performances. Off the top of head I couldnt even tell you who played last years halftime show.

I don't either. When it was in Detroit wasn't Eminem there and Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube. Why is sanctioned rap OK but not punk or metal.

Dude was lookin like he was about to have a heart attack and his dance moves were lackin compared to the past. Luda and Lil John saved things though. That part was pretty good.

He fell off when he changed his name to a symbol in the 90s. Actually, by the time he headlined the halftime show in 2007, he hadn't even put out a decent album in literally 20 years. Everything he released after Sign of the Times is lackluster save for a few songs.

No one gave a fuck about Prince in 2007. None of y'all remember any of the bullshit he was releasing in the 2000s. The Rainbow Children? Musicology? 3121? Planet Earth? That one album that was only released to Target? LOL

And you know, MJ's halftime performance in 1993 was nothing special, either. Guy was lip-syncing the whole time and the finale with "Heal the World" was corny af. And this was just a few months before he got accused of being chomo for the first time; the part with the kids joining him onstage did not age well at all.

Super Bowl halftime performances have never been good, honestly. Either you're gonna see a bunch of shitty modern pop stars onstage or you're gonna see washed up has-beens.
