I don't even follow WWE that much but I know how big of a deal Cody Rhodes' story is. There was this setup towards Cody "finishing his story" and having a match at WrestleMania against Roman Reigns where he would most likely win and become the new face of the company.

...only it's not happening and now it's going to be The Rock vs Roman Reigns.
Thanks for reading!
Next year Cody.
Roman defeats his iconic relative.
He holds the belt for another year (surpassing Hogan).
Cody beats him to become the champion.

How are they going to stretch out the "finishing the story" stuff for an extra year for enough people to care?

The same way that they made Rock vs Cena Once in a Lifetime .

Finishing the story has always been about winning the championship. And tonight, he said he was still going after Roman. Just not at Mania. So his finish the story thing is still very much in play.

Damn it Rock.

Old fuck comes back to steal the spotlight and shit. He doesn't even wrestle full-time.

As if fighting a 50-something Hulk Hogan wasn't a top five match in The Rock's career.

Wow, 10,000 Downvotes so far. People are not liking this.
What's the point of Rock coming back to lose to Roman anyway? It doesn't serve anyone anything since Rock doesn't wrestle and Roman's already at the top.

Big yikes. Kind of glad I still haven't really resumed watching wwe aside from the rumble itself.
How quaint.
If Rollins and Punk are out at WrestleMania, I wouldn't mind Reigns vs. The Rock for night 1 with Cody taking on the winner the next night.

Should have just had Cody win last year.

Rock vs Roman is probably the biggest money maker match the wrestling industry could make at this point. Thats pretty much the last big bastion of wrestling left. Next thing would probably be cm punk and Cody/or Roman

If they are going to have rock, then have Rikishi screw the Rock. Let Rikishi become part of the stable for a a month or so then phase him out.

Honestly...haven't watched WWE in over 2 decades now, but The Rock's theme starting up was nostalgic AF there
Yep.
The Rock is getting back lash on his Instagram account.

WWE just loves cutting popular wrestlers' legs out from under them. Thought they'd get better after Vince was gone, but guess not.

Then again, what do people expect when they still watch WWE? They always fumble the ball.

Needs to hold it until April 2026 to actually pass Hogan's WWF title reign. He only won that belt two years ago.

They were doing a solid job of not letting things feel played out the first couple years. But ever since Cody lost last year the whole things felt tired.
I find it kinda funny that a lotta people were like "LOL FINISH THE STORY CODY" and now that this happens they're like "damn I feel bad for Cody"

But I do feel bad for him. Wanted him badly to win it last year and for him to get gutted like this must feel like the lowest of low blows. The fuck you doing Trips
My expectations they are low
But you're the sun you make them grow

Feels like a bait and switch to me honestly.
It was WAY too "on the nose" for me to believe it will end up the way it looks right now but we'll see.

It will be a triple threat where rock and Roman gang up on Cody and rock joins Roman
Quit Crying
ffs they even had a good excuse to put him in Cody's corner to counter the Bloodline.

That's the thing, people stopped caring long ago. During Hogan's first run, he defended the belt over 500 times.
Reigns has defended the belt just 29 times since August 2020.
Insert some witty line here

Reigns has defended the belt just 29 times since August 2020.

Those 500 times were mostly house shows. According to cagematch, Hogan had 81 televised defenses during his first reign, but a lot of those matches were on local feeds, like NESN or MSG Network. Hardly any of the matches back then were shown to a national audience.

Maybe I can help finish Cody's story in this game.

Because it should have been done sooner.

And indirectly, it made the women's side better by comparison. She doesn't have the shorter hair style, but I'm a fan of the "Bayley to back" suplex city mayor.
Fuck Cody, it should have been Sami. Can't wait for Roman to beat Rock.

Yeah, was gonna say this just kind of kills all the excitement I've had for WWE lately because it's just so braindead. Then again, I guess they are like super profitable atm so what the fuck do I know. :/

It's been stale long before Cody because all of the matches are the exact same. Roman comes out, talks shit, doesn't do anything until the PPV, getting beat up and close to losing, someone interferes and he wins. They got a little extra juice out of it with the Sami Bloodline shit but that quickly fizzled out once it was done.

Yeah Cody did the same thing to Sami last year that Rock did to him this year, but people didn't flip out then.

The plan was never for Sami to take the belt off of Roman.

Obviously nobody was taking the belt off of Roman that year. But if Cody doesn't miraculously return right around RR time who else could they have even had main event but Sami? >_>

Im confused. Isnt all this shit scripted and fictional? I dont watch wrestling so forgive me if Im wrong
