I went into kinda blindly expecting it to be a GTA clone, but I ended up liking the fact that it very linear and right to the point.
Same, honestly. Which is also what I liked about the Saints Row series.
I think the issue is that the game (Mafia 1) is literally almost 22 years old, so you have to go in expecting dated gameplay mechanics. If you expect it to be, like... GTA5, well... That's just the wrong expectation to have.
