I joined the God of War subreddit and apparently... *spoilers*

...a number of people think there's genuine romantic chemistry between Freya and Kratos and that they'll eventually get together.

They handwave away that whole "he snapped her son's neck in front of her" thing.

But then the game kind of did that too, so who am I to judge

He can just give her a new son. Idk I never played GoW

the dlc actually kind of implies it imo which sucks balls

i fucking hate it so much. so insulting to the characters and to the audience

No it just seems to be insulting to dumb people

I feel like, it's a different kind of world, where the only real positive male relationships Freya had were with her brother, to an extent, and a young boy, that her son tried to kill.

besides that, her son's dad was willing to treat his kids as fodder, her son, a dude who became psycho due to her overprotectiveness, and the dude who killed her son, a currently noble, formerly psycho god, who only came to kill her son because he cared for her as a friend.

plus, Kratos and Atreus suffered because of Baldur, and she carried a lot of guilt because of the gift/curse she put on him, yet they didn't blame her, so I feel it's really complicated for her, and she sees that despite all of the terrible things he's done, Kratos is trying to be a good person.

I prefer them as "friends", though - as close to a friend you can be to your son's killer, at least.

like i said, it "kind of implies" it. i would laugh if anyone used it as definitive proof, but kratos definitely has several lines of dialogue that can be spun that way. i exhausted all the dialogue, to my knowledge

the reason it annoyed the fuck out of me was because the base game has precisely zero wiggle room as to whether or not it's a thing (it is not)
