First game of 2024. Decided to just put it into Story difficulty and crank through it, skipping some of the collectibles, since I was afraid I would never find the time to finish it.

Looks like (MAJOR STORY SPOILERS) that ain't the end of it though so FUCK.

Also I am a huge POTF fanboy and the music in this game is outstanding.

I loved that they are not afraid to include stuff like that in art, it was unexpected but real and just added to the atmosphere and tone of the game.

Did you know there's an extended ending in The Final Draft (New Game+) that leaves a lot less hanging?
A Fallen Mascot
Is there actually a significant amount of referencing/overlap other Remedy games properties that aren't cameos or Easter eggs? I was interested in the game but some CEmen made it out like you can't appreciate it without being invested in the Remedy MCU and that's a huge turnoff

Not TC, but the game is entirely playable and enjoyable without having played Max Payne, Control, or Quantum Break. The most overlap is with Control, and that's only regarding the FBC. And, as Saga, you can even ask what they are and the like. It's full of references and easter eggs but they're ignored if you haven't played them.

That was probably me lmao but that's just because I love the whole Remedy universe and think all their games are amazing.

In all fairness you would probably enjoy AW2 just having played Alan Wake previously. I guess you could even arguably just jump straight in to AW2, you get the gist of who everyone is and what's going on as you play. But the storytelling and world building of the other games is just too amazing to me, I would not personally want to just dive into 2 first.

Might be a basic bitch choice but Herald of Darkness. I definitely dragged that sequence out for a lot longer than its intentional runtime, loved seeing Marko, Markus and Olli in the video and I couldn't get enough of it >_>

And Punished_Blinx: I've been trying to avoid as many spoilers as humanly possible, think I did pretty good so far. All I know is that the new game plus mode mixes up the story a bit so I am looking forward to playing that in the near future.

Yeah, I'd 100% agree to play Alan Wake 1 fist before diving into 2. Other than that, everything is pretty much explained outright. Even Alan Wake 1 is explained, but the experience is heavily enhanced at least if you played 1. The Herald of Darkness portion pretty much explains a decent chunk of Alan Wake 1, even lol.

lol I saw that in another topic, very strange.

I don't know many philosophers but lately I've been reading Robert Anton Wilson and Christopher S. Hyatt, I dig what both of them were putting out.

AW1: A writer gets stuck in a horror story he seems to have written but has no memory of doing so. With pages appearing in front of him detailing everything that will happen, he wants to get out of this horror story and save his wife while he's at it.

AW2: A cult kills a man who seemed to disappear 13 years prior. Two detectives begin investigating, but as they begin finding pages of a manuscript that detail everything that will happen.

Meanwhile, the writer from AW1 is stuck in a neverending loop in a hell that seems to be playing tricks on him at every juncture. The writer must find a way out of this hell and put an end to this loop, no matter what it takes.

I'm only on Chapter 3 and need to put more time into it. I am REALLY liking what I am playing though.
