I had to "restart" since my original foray into the game was apparently just in tutorial mode. The standard "commander mode" for singleplayer has a few extra micromanagement aspects in between missions but they are so damn boring and unnecessary. Literally just hire a new cop if one of yours got killed or resigned, and send anyone who is stressed to therapy.

Anyway I'm on I think mission 6 or 7, where you have to investigate some computer operation... the hallways are so cramped and the controls are so glitchy and the AI has wallhacks or something.

I think I found a new "tactic" though to just go into an empty room and fire a couple shots off and then stand by and see if anyone comes through a doorway...

I like the concept of this game but I tried it out right after early access launched and couldn't figure out the gameplay

might try it again sometime

I'd recommend holding off, hopefully they polish up the AI teammates and enemies. It might be worth it if you have friends to co-op with though.

First attempt at this stupid Sinuous Trail mission today. Got shot at and killed outside while approaching a side entrance, first time in like a million attempts that I have seen that.

edit: Losing wouldn't be so unbearable if I didn't have to go back to the police station just to go to the briefing room and select the mission again and tell the people to go to therapy and all that crap. I want a replay button.

Finally got a C on that mission. Apparently two of my officers had died but I didn't know where they went down and so I didn't report them...

Next mission is about some mansion being used to modify semi-automatic weapons into automatic.

My buddies and I played a good 20 hours or so across the early access period. Aimbot AI, glitchy responsiveness to shouts/flashbangs/crowd control, magic bullets blasting out of their chests when hands were behind their backs...

We went back to playing Swat 4 Gold with mods and literally never looked back.

Edit: For some constructive criticism the game looks, sounds and feels amazing to play. The guns are awesome -- all of them. Very, very intense firefights when the game is functioning on all cylinders without hiccups. But the maps are /huge/, a pain in the ass to 100% (heard they fixed this in 1.0) and can really drag on and on with some guy you missed hiding in the rafters near spawn when you're 1km away in some tunnel somewhere looking for evidence.
Since only from below can one better see the heights.

How does it work with co-op? Do you still have any AI teammates or are you on your own with the other people?

I miss a lot of the SWAT 4 mechanics, game just felt way more polished. I am dying that the mirror doesn't work consistently, I can't aim consistently (sometimes the weapons just aren't responsive at all).

There are some really cool features, like suspects only pretend surrendering just to pull out a pistol when you go to detain them. Just right now I told an officer to restrain a guy and he just shot him in the head >_> presumably because he pulled a pistol out idk.

I didn't play when there were AI teammates so it was just 4 friends trying to be tactical and communicating, talking through the situation like Swat 4 online was. Just wasn't anywhere near as polished like you said.

This mission with the family making automatic weapons is killin' me...

Almost killed the (unarmed) dad, then I was clearing out the rooms upstairs and some guy came out of nowhere from the first floor that had been totally cleared and just wiped everyone out? I am so confused where he even came from.

So if you tie up a dead suspect (because sometimes they're faking it, but this guy was definitely dead) and then shoot them in the head it is -50 points for unauthorized force.

But if you accidentally step on an injured suspect on the ground it is -100 points? lol edit: I guess it was -100 for unauthorized *deadly* use of force. I didn't see the suspect and didn't even fire, all I can think is that he spawned out of nowhere and my teammates blasted him instantly but idk.

lol this game can be some real bullshit.

Just spent 10 minutes running around the stupid post office map trying to find the last suspect, turns out he's in a bathroom and kills one of my guys. I send the other subgroup in with a stinger, he goes down... and then I failed the mission for some reason. wtf. It was the absolute last objective I needed.

Finished the USPS mission.

Next mission was about raiding a mansion where they were making illegal adult content... got that on the first try though I did lose one officer.

Now the infamous community college level.
