Basically you pre-select the meals you want for the next week, and then they send you all the meals in one shipment, and they're pre-cooked and stored in special cooled containers. They're not frozen, so they're a step up from frozen dinners. Just fridged. So you get the shipment, then put them all in your fridge, then eat them throughout the week.

The plan prices differ depending on how many you get per week.

The lowest is 6, each one costs $13.50 for a total of $81 a week.

The highest is 18, each one costs $11 for a total of $198 per week.

And then it's a scale between those two.

They have a lot of different options it looks like.

I dunno, I was thinking about it. I hate shopping so much, I hate going out the buy food at restaurants so much. This is just the lazy man's way of staying alive, they bring you already made food and you eat it.

The only thing is that it seems kinda expensive, but at the same time it is delivered. I wonder if there are hidden delivery fees.

Anyone done it before?

yup. found out about it from a topic here on ce a while back. it's pretty expensive but i think it's worth it. saves me a lot of trouble. i don't get the full week so i can get or make my own food a bit, but i do find i either spend a lot or take forever making food when i don't have that day covered.

anyway it's tasty. there aren't really hidden fees. but it's expensive. they also have add-ons you can put in your order but for the most part they're incredibly overpriced and not worth it. though the cookies and shakes, while still expensive, are actually kinda worth it and good quality.

basically it's good but expensive.

That seems obscenely expensive for what is more than likely pretty low grade meals.

Also, I wouldnt want to stop going out for food so much.

Wasteful and expensive

Sorta seems opposite of wasteful? I mean you're only paying and getting the exact meals you eat, instead of buying a ton of groceries at the store and then you may not end up eating it all before it goes bad.

The packaging.
I order CookUnity which is pretty similar in price but has a lot of meal variety. Only worry is some complaints about calories being inaccurate, but I've seen people complain about it being more and less, and only for certain meals. My hope is, it would all balance out and ends up accurate for the most part over the long-run.

It's pretty nice because it saves me on grocery shopping and if I need to microwave, I have the option. I understand it is a premium over grocery shopping, but that's to be expected to skip out on the grocery store. I have had some pretty good meals so far, so I'm relatively happy so far.

there used to be a service called chowdy. the food looked amazing actually. it was supposed to be a lunch service for professionals, you would pick up your meal every day from a nearby kitchen that they paid to stock the meal in. i think they went out of business but said they want to come back with a better model. i'm surprised it took this long to get a buyable solution for weekly eating and no prep.

I feel like I we tried them both. Not bad, but they get pricey after those fun intro rates.

81 bucks for six meals...hmm...

About the same price as six single-person fast food meals so it's not too crazy I guess. Still would probably be cheaper to just invest in a slow cooker or something and learn how to make a week's worth of stew.

If it's $81 a week then I'm not exactly saving money. That would literally cost more than eating Doordash 5 times a week.
How is that possible? After service fees and tips every Doordash order I've ever made is at least $20. Usually more like $30 to $40. That's the reason I've completely stopped using Doordash or Uber eats. I'll just go pick up the food myself.

Doordash with the DashPass knocks service fees down to about $13-18 a meal, provided you are ordering more than the $12 minimum.
Oh I forgot that's a thing. Fuck that, I ain't buying a Battlepass for food delivery lmao

That stuff is extremely expensive. Its just a grift for lazy people who cant make their own meals.

For the 18 meal option youre spending several times the amount people typically spend on groceries per month and its not even covering all your meals. So youd still probably need to go to the grocery store weekly.
Yes, it is against the terms of service. Do not use the boards to set up orgies.

I used a promo to get a bunch of discounted meals once. It was good for that price but not for the normal price. Their primary uses were bringing to work for lunch in lieu of a restaurant nearby or a late night meal in lieu of fast food.

I had heard this advertised on Your Kickstarter Sucks, but $13.50 a meal feels like a lot to commit to even though I spend more than that when I order delivery.

I did Factor meals for probably 2-3 months before I got tired of the options. It was really convenient to have them ready to go which is what you are paying for.

Lots of grocery stores have these sort meals also, so you can save on the shipping.

Also, just get some steamable veggie backs in the frozen section and then cook a bunch of chicken on Sunday for the week. It's probably one of the most inexpensive ways to eat healthy, but quick.

Yeah, Wegmans on the east coast has a lot of these "you just need to pop it in the oven" type meals.

Its certainly convenient, and what you are essentially getting is a healthier, tastier, fresher frozen dinner (Except they aren't frozen). I don't feel like they have as much variety as Hello Fresh though. But these are essentially better meals for the same kind of crowd that buys soylent (Which I lived off of for about three years).

The advantage of Hello Fresh is if you want to get into cooking, but don't want to bother with the tedious parts (finding all the ingredients in the supermarket in the correct portion size). I'm actually trying it myself, having already done Factor.

$13.50 per meal is pretty expensive.

I can go to a mom-and-pop restaurant and get half a chicken, grilled over an open flame with a salad, potatoes, feijao, vegetable soup, dessert, drink, and coffee... for less than that.

If I'm going to get a refrigerated meal, it better be less than 5-7 dollars.

People bringing up the 13.50 price, remember it's delivered. You can't compare that price to going to a mom and pop shop. You gotta compare it to ordering door dash from those places, with delivery fee and tip.

And yeah I heard about them from video adverts lol
