It was just a few years ago that they were everywhere. Am I living in a bubble, or did the world just collectively move on from those things?

They're ok for watching streams and not much else. When you think about it Kindle Fires are kinda all you need.

remember when "phablets" were a thing? bigger than regular smartphones but not quite as big as tablets. then regular smartphones just kept getting bigger and bigger, so they are the size phablets were and that's just a phone now.
These are kinda making a comeback in the form of flip phones

I thought that was what people called smartphones over 6" back in the day. When people were using 4" iphones and shit

Speaking of phablets, who else remembers netbooks

Even some phones like Samsung note which were a little smaller than 6" got called phablets. At the time a 7" device was considered a tablet. These days a 7" device is considered useless junk. Too big to fit in the pocket and sucks at everything a 10"+ tablet can do

Tablets were once great back when everything was designed for desktop. They filled that niche where you could still use a site even if it wasnt designed for mobile. But now that everything is designed for phone they dont help me.
I only use a tablet at home. I havent had a desktop in 12 years at home, never owned a laptop, and have never owned a cellphone. My internet usage is 100% through a tablet at home.

Did people actually say phablets? I never heard that until today. I don't like it.

Yeah, mostly reviewers. They called my Nexus 6 a phablet. It was my first phone that wasn't flip or Windows.

I feel like once the gimmick settled down, tablets kind of found their natural place with e-readers. That, and I see a lot of musicians who will use it for sheet music or lyrics because it fits neatly on a music stand.

exactly

tablets were already obsolete a good decade before they were introduced

They are great for reading comic books. Marvel Unlimited and DC Universe have to be sideloaded to work on a Kindle Fire (not to mention the screen is smaller than a traditional comic book). I literally use my iPad Air every day to read something.

I have a gameboy pocket. It's black.
Really old people and little kids still use them
They are too big

Tablets are just big clunky phones, or laptops without keyboards. They exist in an in between space where the average person would rather use a phone or a laptop in any situation where they'd use a tablet.

One of the only groups of people I know who use tablets consistently are artists.

Yeah this topic is my first exposure to that word and I hate it.
Use my iPad every day still. I read comics on it, play games on it and draw on it. Im still waiting for the day I can entirely ditch desktops in favor of it but itll take a while before every company moves over their desktop class programs to tablets and phones.
I picked up nearly all square-enix rpgs for android during golden week a few years back. play them on a fire10 tablet.

I know my older cousin would take out her ipad to take pictures. We laugh about it and now she brings it out on purpose for thanksgiving & christmas.

i never saw anyone using one in public. only phones.

every time i use a tablet, it's at home, and i realize it would be better to just use a laptop so i eventually just use that instead.
