It could come from completely random people, and possibly from more than 1 person. Like, less than half could come from Elon Musk, while the rest could come from people who desperately need it, or maybe all of it comes from your best friend. Alternatively, $1 could come from a million different people if you chose $1 million. Unless you somehow figure it out on your own, you'll have no way of knowing who the money came from. How much would you want, if any?

I'd probably take a billion.

I'd use that money to help people though. Enough to the point where 100 million just wouldn't be enough. I'd probably keep 100 million of that billion to myself though. The rest can help other people.

It could come from anyone; in the event the money is foreign (ie, pesos), it is converted to American dollars, (or if someone else reads this, whatever your currency is where you live)

Can they track where their money went? Because that would be a very bad thing if a good chunk of your cash came from the Sinaloa cartel and they found you.
Every day I wake up and promise I will be nice to everyone, then I deal with people at work and remember why that will never happen.

Wait how does this wealth distribution work exactly? None of my friends has $1bil in cash so if I choose $1bil will I get the money from:
1.) People who have the money already? or
2.) People who'll be forced into debt/bankruptcy through my action? or
3.) A mix of both?

No deal in case#2 and #3, very yes deal in case#1.
