There's probably a less toxic red dye that is used everywhere else in the world.
The US is pretty lax on what it allows in food.
No way that shit doesnt cause cancerThis seems to be California's stance on pretty much everything.
This is dumb but reminds me of this shit I used to eat as a kid. It was like a combination of andy capps hot fries/cheese fries and it was so fucking good. But it was like 30% trans fats.
Id still buy it if they existed
Dumb Cali at it again.Europe banned them.
Didn't they try banning Skittles for the same thing recently? Then they decided to unban them?

I always hate when it's a ban on an ingredient but gets reported as a ban directed at a specific food.
Does it really matter what color they are? Red, green, blue, orange, they're cheetos, it's not like you really take a good look at them before chucking them in your mouth. You can still dye them, just with a natural dye. Beets or tomatoes are an easy sub.

Typical responses from the sheep dewormer crowd.what does this meaN?
or does california just put this label on like every product?Pretty much, which is why it's ignored. There's no differentiation between brazilnuts and asbestos, just the "may cause cancer in california" sticker on essentially everything.
Not sure why they couldn't just use natural red 4.Probably more expensive

saw this post on reddit the other day
so certain headphones can cause cancer too apparently? or does california just put this label on like every product?
im so confused now
is it because this headphone has the color red on it is it using the same dye??? :O
Any item that has an ingredient that is carcinogenic gets that label slapped on. Whether is plastic, chemical, food additive, etcI don't see a RoHS logo, so the solder is probably actual lead.

I don't see how. It comes from beetles. Which I'm sure are easy to reproduceWouldn't it be cheaper to just not bother with colors at all?

It's because the product contains 1 or more chemicals determined to cause cancer and/or reproductive harm (birth defects).
The website on the sticker (https://www.p65warnings.ca.gov/) in the pic explains it all in better detail than any post here can.
The basic thinking behind the label though is that consumers should know if any of the chemicals in a product are harmful or potentially harmful.
Some people DGAF and can simply ignore the label. Some people do care, and can seek out more information from the manufacturer, or avoid the product altogether.

Not everything needs to look like a preschool playground.
It's because the product contains 1 or more chemicals determined to cause cancer and/or reproductive harm (birth defects). It never says on the packaging what the harmful chemical(s) is or where it can be found on the product which is the reason no one ever takes those labels seriously.

inb4 flamin blue cheetos
If they look like regular cheetos who's gonna buy em?Literally everybody who likes Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
inb4 flamin blue cheetos
ohh they should make it a dark purple imo
Takis, tho...
its true all my hot cheetos students are a tiny bit harder to wrangle in for their math lesson
I didn't have an opinion on flaming hot cheetos and Takis until I became a school teacher, now I can see why there's a link between consumption of red dye 40 and hyperactivity and ADHD.
Interesting. Do schools sell this shit on campus?
I don't know if it's because I don't get out much but I don't even remember Flamin' Hot Cheetos being popular before all the forced memes about them.Nah they've been popular since their introduction. The memes are just really slow.
