the people that dont like it are mad that it doesn't follow the book word for word. Don't listen to them.I liked it, but didn't like some parts where it didn't follow the book. Key plot elements were changed or dropped entirely which is going to make it harder and harder to keep close to the original story as the path deviates.

Overall, it is okay, but the last episode of the season was a disaster. What is the funny is that the best episode wasn't in the book at all - the 4th one with gentling Logain.Thats the thing. There are plenty of gaps where you could create your own vision as to the HOW of some things we know happened in the books but didnt see happened. But if you think youre a better writer than Robert Jordan, youre not.
From what I heard its better if the books are not fresh in your mind. The difference is that in LOTR the changes were largely good ones that made sense. In this case not so much.
I don't care about one to one accuracy. After all if that mattered the lord of the rings trilogy of films would be terrible as they make lots and lots of changes.
But if you think youre a better writer than Robert Jordan, youre not.
The difference is that in LOTR the changes were largely good ones that made sense. In this case not so much.I have to take your word for it. I haven't watched The Wheel of Time series and I am hearing mixed things. I am told that as long as accuracy isn't super important it's pretty good. But well all opinions are valid so you be you.

The amount of sexist language, from both groups, and the number of issues that could be resolved if anybody would talk to each other, just became too much.
Well, he wasn't all that stellar in the last few books he wrote for the series. They were all pretty much filler books that hardly moved the story anywhere until Sanderson took over after his death. Pages and pages filled with how large the bosoms of certain Aes Sedai were and detailed descriptions of their dresses.I disagree about 7-10, but U think his last book, Knufe of Dreams, is one of the best in the series.
The first 4-5 were as good as anything I have read....the last few were slogs.
Is the second season out yet? I enjoyed the first season, too, but I know it was rather pooh-poohed by the book fans.
The things people typically criticize the slog for slow burn political intrigue and character work are things that series like ASOIAF and Realm of the Elderlings are praised for, so Ive never understood that. The issue being like half of the stuff was pointless.
Years ago I started reading the books. I stopped after the 4th or 5th. The amount of sexist language, from both groups, and the number of issues that could be resolved if anybody would talk to each other, just became too much. This isnt the story for you then, as the male / female dichotomy contrasted with how they can only accomplish great things when they work together is one of the central pillars of it.

Pages and pages filled with how large the bosoms of certain Aes Sedai were and detailed descriptions of their dresses.Book #5 was ridiculous for all the breast mentions. I had heard someone say something about it so while re-reading I actually wrote down all the mentions in a notepad file. My god, it was like every second or third page. Nothing salacious or maybe that noticeable unless you're looking for it, but like everything Elayne and Nynaeve did in that book somehow revolved around them having breasts. It was hilarious. Then it becomes much less frequent after that book, I'm guessing an editor brought it to RJ's attention.
I liked it, but didn't like some parts where it didn't follow the book. Key plot elements were changed or dropped entirely which is going to make it harder and harder to keep close to the original story as the path deviates.
What were some of the changes?
i don't understand the point of having Perrin be married, only for her to be a textbook "Woman in the fridge" trope

He literally would spend a chapter talking about a giant march of Aes Sedai and what they were wearingThe bold is the problem. I can see how theyd be a slog if you read at release and waited years between books. If you read them back to back without waiting years between, theyre fine IMO. I just did a re-read (though it was my first audio read) starting in January and finished up late July / early August.
I read them all as they were released and I remember being so disappointed how almost nothing would happen in some of those books that until like the last chapter or 2

The others all had their moments.

This isnt the story for you then, as the male / female dichotomy contrasted with how they can only accomplish great things when they work together is one of the central pillars of it.And that can work. But not when you're repeating the same thing for 12 very long books.
Crossroads of Twilight is easily the worst book in the series, but its far from what Id call bad.
I don't care that it doesn't follow the book word-for-word.This is mostly my take on it. I actually dont mind them showing the show be more dark, as some very dark things happen in that story, but Jordan wasnt the kind of author to show them, revel in them, etc. and more of a fade to black author. But they really did fuck up the time even from episode 1.
I care that it completely misses the tone of the series and took the story about 30 steps too far in the "crapsack, grizzly, rapey, torture porn world" direction because Game of Thrones did it. Just like every other fantasy series to come out after game of thrones.
Crossroads of Twilight is easily the worst book in the series, but its far from what Id call bad.The series was good up to 8. It was at that point it started to spin wheels. RJ then wasted 2 books then died

The show is bad, really bad. The Moriane and Suian teleport scene in the White tower is infurating to book readers who watched . The teleport doesnt come about till the 5th book. It's even convoulted then. It moraine can take the group to Tear at the start and be done with the whole thing. Idiotic storytelling
