now that 261 has been shut down for months i feel like most of us have migrated to ce among those that didn't already post here. seems like a lot of users from 261 have had trouble acclimating to ce with many warnings and suspensions and a few bannings.

how do my fellow politics board users feel about ce? how do you feel about the election that is looming next year? how do you feel about trump finally getting some consequences for his neverending stream of crimes? how do you feel in general?
I am thinking about just walking into the river now that Megaupload is gone and condoms are in porn .-Fubonis

I've been on both boards for a while. It was nice having one location to see everything political related but CE is funnier so it's a good change regardless. Not so much doom scrolling anymore.

CE is SUSPENDED!

Some days CE is overusing some pretty bad joke topics, like, today all these "You are now a <x>keeper" topics.

I'm all for stupid jokes, but when there are 5 topics made by 5 people, I don't know why someone wants to create a 6th topic on top of them.

Otherwise, CE is fine and fun, most of the time.

You say that, but I've seen 261ers finally getting suspended for the exact same stuff they pulled on 261 for literally years with impunity. It's a nice change.

I can't speak on the political board, but social boards are indeed moderated differently than game boards, despite the same ToS.

I got suspended for a month for a flippant comment in a CE political topic shortly after 261 was closed, so they were going real hard. It was such a stupid comment to get banned for, too, which was ridiculous but whatever.

the things that get marked change though. smaller boards have things that are moddable slide by because no one marks them, not to mention topicality makes some extra things moddable compared to a social board. on ce you can bet that anything even close to borderline is getting marked

it's a social board so you are gonna run into every type of person and tons of different hobbies and interests. some are weird and disturbing but really kinda tame compared to much of the internet

it was shut down because fandom has a company policy to not allow forums dedicated to politics. the mods/admins said that social boards having political discussion is ok

yeah, there was a lot more news posted consistently on 261 and the level of discussion was more in depth as well imo. i have always posted on ce and lue but i posted the most on 261 because there was just more discussion about stuff like the war in ukraine, various breaking news stories and much more in depth political discussion in general. ce is fine but it does suck they just nuked 261 for no good reason

261 was where I personally got most of my political news.

I often looked deeper on my own, doing fact checking/bias filtering, but it was a great sort of launching point. Sorta like an unfiltered politics feed. There were some very knowledgeable people and solid discussions. Of course there were trolls and fights, but they weren't as prevalent as here.

Nuking it completely was a very bad move, should have made it read only. So much stuff there that could have been archived is just lost.

Yeah that's where I'm at too though admittedly I've never been a super active poster.

I was in Current Events for awhile though but the only topics that really interested me were political ones or news so when I discovered 261 I was pretty quick to leave CE. I don't dislike CE, just preferred the topics and discourse in 261 (minus the trolls obviously)

I never added much to discussions, but I really liked reading them on the politics board. It was how I kept up with most news too. The board had a different feel to it. CE is...CE.

I miss 261. It was a convenient way to discuss smaller news stories that I might not have otherwise heard about.

And I agree with what others here have said: trolls aside, there was a nice little core community of well-informed and decent people you could have serious discussions with. Even if I didn't agree with someone, they were usually knowledgeable enough that their posts/opinions were still worth reading. Can't say the same thing about CE at all. I also really enjoyed reading people's perspectives on the different laws in the states/countries they lived in. Can't get that from reading a news article.

One thing I dislike immensely about CE is how easily some serious topics can be buried behind pages of moronic threads in no time at all. I'll stick around for now, but I don't post anywhere near as much as I used to.

Don't know about you, but I've acclimated to this place just fine. However, I have a feeling a few conservatrolls out there still think I'm being protected by the mods for some reason.

CE seems to be a more chaotic version of 261 with more general discussion about every day life. However 261's flaws as a community are amplified here.
