See children, Trumbles are bad, and if you don't believe me ask your dad...
they knew they'd make money because a big enough part of their audience is racist

the controversy probably helps because sheep don't know any better
I could see you, but I couldn't hear you You were holding your hat in the breeze Turning away from me In this moment you were stolen...
Not a fan of country, but definitely not a fan of that song.
You gonna do something or just stand there and bleed?

Jason Aldean grew up in a town of over 90,000, lives in Nashville, doesnt write any of his songs, and has the stage presence of a coat rack.

He filmed the music video for a song with lyrics easily interpreted as threatening violence against black people protesting police brutality in front of a court house famous for a black man getting lynched and hung from it.

So hes a talentless hack, and either racist or incredibly stupid (as Id argue whoever wrote the song is potentially more racist than he is).

Well you have to be pretty stupid to be racist so I'd say he's both.

Haven't heard it. Don't care for country music all that much.

Live in a small town and read about crime or hear about it on my police scanner pretty much daily. From what I've read about the song it doesn't really make sense from my experiences...

I grew up in a town of about 11,000 with a 3% black population and no racist shit ever happened. and I only ever saw one Trump supporting sign there. but the song is about southern towns, not small towns.

If it is about southern towns that sucks because I'm from the South (lived in the same town my entire life, literally never a mile away from the house I grew up in) and I hate the stigma about the South. We're not all racist rednecks who vote Republican and worship Trump. I guess that's a problem with generalizations but dang.

I grew up in a southern small town of about 2045, and Im not aware of any racist stuff here either other than jokes. None of that really contradicts anything I said,

alright it's not about southern towns either. it's about towns with too many guns

actually my town probably had too many guns too because I spent every summer morning being woken up by gunshots if I managed to sleep through the neighbor's roosters

Haven't heard it, trying not to. My Facebook friends who also glorify "the good old days" of being spanked, riding in the bed of a pickup truck, and drinking from a hose seem to love it, which can only mean it's awful.

...I am enjoying some of the memes though.

It now means someone from a 'small town' is seething because minorities don't want to die

songwriter created an insult against people on his own side

tbh you can replace "jason aldean" with the name of basically any country singer and it mostly works

my uncle writes country for a living in nashville, has a few #1 hits, a few platinum records
no one knows his name lol
It took four people to write that song?

(I also originally thought this was about the old song)

It's a song that is carefully constructed to appeal to racists who enjoy power fantasies about violent vigilantism.

Of course it's popular.
