Yeah, but you don't eat the entire bowl in a single meal/snack.

just thinking that in my case i have to be more conscious/care more about what i eat, a dude i used to game with was skinny like 4 years ago and now he's legit obese

Sabra roasted red pepper is my go-to; nearly every other hummus brand / flavor I've tried is gross. The only other one I've tried that's pretty good is Boar's Head Everything Bagel flavor, but it's a little too rich for regular use.

Both of the articles you listed say nothing about how counting calories doesn't work, just that there's BETTER ways to lose weight.

I don't think anyone is debating that "Eat Healthy and Exercise" is the best wat to lose weight. But eating at a calories deficit will also make you lose weight. It may lead to a heart condition and diabetes, but you'll still lose weight.
It takes zero effort to be a good person.

It's generally easier to cut 500 calories out of your diet than to burn 500 calories through exercise.

I should probably look into some of the side effects of calorie restriction. I'm kinda going through one of my "one small meal and six cups of black coffee a day" phases and I'm lowkey worried it's gonna kill me.

How many people you know that got fat from eating a bowl of hummus everyday though? You'll probably end up losing weight, despite the high calories. It's not only about the calories, but what type it is. 3-4 greasy cheeseburgers a day, or a big bowl of hummus. Each around 3000 calories. I wish someone would test this for a week.

But did I say anything about it not entirely working/not leading to loss of weight? Scientifically it does. I said it was pointless as in of little value because there are too many factors.

That's my entire argument. You want to successfully lose weight for the long term while also maintaining good overall health? Focus on other things rather than counting calories because ultimately...it's pointless...if those are your goals.

Though this is an argument that has been going on for decades and we won't solve it on a video game message board.
There are approximately 31,000 calories in a gallon of gasoline but you wouldn't gain weight by drinking it (you'd die, so don't do this).

Eating at a calorie deficit while not paying attention to the nutritional value of the food youre consuming will still get you to lose weight.

It is most definitely not the correct way to lose weight.

For example, eating a Big Mac with fries and a Coke is about a 1700 calorie meal. If thats the only thing you eat in a day, youll slowly lose weight. Youll also have all sorts of health issues.
It takes zero effort to be a good person.

At minimum, counting calories does work if you want to lose weight. Notice that it doesn't take other things into account like pre-existing health conditions that can make it difficult, but those are minimal at most. If you're looking for a better way to lose weight and look good while doing it, exercise and dieting will always be way more optimal than just counting calories.

Bulk of sumo wrestler's weight gain are due to copious amounts of beer, and sleeping right after a big meal.
