this is why opinions need to be supported with evidence; in this case being examples of conservative views and policies that are not demonstrably harmful
There's a difference between not standing behind a candidate 100% and voting for someone who wants to strip the rights away of people you know as well as people you don't know. It's also hard to ignore the fact that this person you're hanging out with, that is friendly towards you, and claims to be a friend not caring about how those policies affect you or at least not caring enough that said policies aren't a turn off to them.
I wouldn't vote someone who would hurt people I care about. Even if I benefit from said candidate. How could I live with myself?
Depends on the individual. My best friend is a Trumper, I have 2 brother in laws that are Trumpers. One of the brother in laws and my friend are both level headed, not hardcore into politics, and both have small businesses, so they simply vote republican every time and admit that Trump is probably a bad guy but whatever. The other brother in law thinks Trump is the greatest president of all time and thinks everything he does is genius and everything Biden does is evil. So yea fuck that latter guy. I can't stand hanging out with him, the other 2 are actually chill.
Except it has and we literally lost roe vs wade. Other rights have been dialed back too. If you point this out to someone and they handwave it then they simply don't care at best or actively approve at worst. Either way they helped contribute to the problem.
I just.. cant associate with someone like that. Aside from that I don't care about people's views until their views or politics begins to actively contribute in the harming of others.
what is a morman?
it sounds like an aquatic Marvel universe race
did I spell that wrong? I honestly dont know.
mormon
I know it has. But they think things like that are a fluke Hence why I said its more like ignorance in their partconservative policies (cutting social programs, etc.) are far more harmful to vulnerable people than any bigotry at the individual level
And like I said, Im not trying to change anyones views on it. Im just saying I disagree I dont think they are bad people They just made bad choices, IMO But they not everyone who votes conservative hates others. Which is why Im fine with some friends being like that. As long as they arent being hateful
conservative policies (cutting social programs, etc.) are far more harmful to vulnerable people than any bigotry at the individual level
Im not saying they dont have harmful policies. Im saying I dont believe all their policies are harmfulthat's a completely baseless belief
that's a completely baseless belief
Baseless to you, maybe. But not to me...you literally said that you don't know a single conservative view or policy.
you literally said that you don't know a single conservative view or policy.
what is your belief that "not all their policies are harmful" based on?
I usually know what their stance is around voting time since everyone is talking about it. After that, I toss it out
I said I don't remember their policies... Not that I never knew them. When all they were talking about at work was their candidate's policies... I said:
Like I said, I cant give you views on anything. I cant even tell you any democratic views.
you said in post 154 that you would be unable to "give me" views on anything:
I usually know what their stance is around voting time since everyone is talking about it. After that, I toss it out
being unable to name a single conservative view means that, functionally, you do not know what any conservative views are. therefore your views about them are, objectively, based on nothing. i.e. baseless
If the relationship is defined by "politics!", it's a terrible relationship anyway.This. Plus, people whos identities revolve around politics are the worst. So boring
