Just having some soup for dinner the next few days but Im gonna make a Japanese meal this Sunday:
-BBQ chicken skewers
-Vegetable yakisoba
-Sauted zucchini
-Senmai-zuke (pickled turnip)
A couple of days ago I made kind of half easy stroganoff.

I did a marinade of salt pepper garlic and onion powder on a flank steak. Then I rehydrated some morells, oyster, and three in some baby Bella mushrooms to create a stock.

choped the mushrooms up, cooked the steak a bit, deglazed with white wine, then did shallot, garlic, and mushrooms in the pan. Then added knorr stroganoff packets, and its required liquids. Cooked that, added salt and pepper. Then finished off work some sour cream.

Picked up some ingredients for sausage & cabbage soup Im gonna make next week; was gonna use 1/4 or so head of cabbage for the yakisoba so this seemed like a good way to use up the rest (especially since I have some homemade veggie stock in the fridge as well). Aside from the constants (salt + pepper + bay leaves) I was kinda thinking this for the seasoning blend:
-Dried basil
-Smoked paprika
-Mustard seed
-Ground mace

Any opinions on what the ratio should be? Thinking maybe 1/2 to 1 tsp for the mustard seed, at the very least. Making the soup with 1qt of vegetable stock, for scale.

Looks really good, been wanting to learn how to make corned beef for a minute.
hey, DuranOfForcena here on my alt. thanks for the attempted @, i'm always down for a good food/cooking thread.

i spent most of the afternoon today making a pan roasted vegetable medley consisting of potatoes, carrots, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, garlic, white onion, and green onion, seasoned with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, parsley, and rosemary. it came out really good. i am going to have it as a side with dinner a bit later, which will be some Stovetop stuffing and some leftover turkey from in the freezer, with some gravy. felt like rehashing Thanksgiving i guess, lol.

this past week i had various dinners made from some fajita mixes i did with some strips of thin-cut ribeye and some shredded chicken. i sauteed a ton of onions, jalapenos, bellpeppers, Anaheim peppers, and celery and then divided it between the two meats, and seasoned em with some herbs and spices, and threw some Pace Picante in there. i did street tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and a Southwest inspired salad with some Jack in the Box creamy avocado lime dipping cups used as salad dressing. oh and some tortilla strips i airfried up real quick on a whim, which came out really good.
It don't matter. None of this matters.

Corned beef is so underrated, mom used to make it every year on St. Patrick's Day
Every day I wander in negative disposition, as I'm bombarded by superlatives, realizing very well that I am not alone.
Not to be a pleb, but how does real authenthic cornbeef taste to the stuff you get from the can??

My family is filipino and we love canned corned beef for breakfast with rice and eggs.
Wondering if it taste too different that cannned stuff

Kinda thinking this:
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp thyme (swapped thyme out for basil since it seemed to fit the blend better)
1 tsp ground pepper (plus some freshly cracked pepper during the saut)
1/2 tsp mustard seed
1/8 tsp mace (for a mild, fruity contrast & some added sweetness)

Marinating the chicken for tomorrow
Welp the chickens officially marinating for tomorrow.

https://imgur.com/y378ozR

2lb thigh meat
1 bottle Bachan BBQ sauce
1 bunch scallions
1 tbsp sesame seeds
Forgot to take a pic but chicken skewers turned out
looks like they'd turn out from the marinade picture for sure.

just finished the last of the batch of ham hock and bean soup i had in the freezer. i'm gonna make some more in probably a couple days. i want to also make some confetti cornbread to go with it. i think i'm gonna want to do bacon bits and diced hamsteak, cubed cheddar and pepper jack, and diced jalapeno, bellpepper, Anaheim pepper and red onion.

Finally got a sous vide and tested it out with some cheap top sirloin. OMG it really does have perfect edge to edge results.
Also made this top sirloin tender like a fillet.

I did set off the fire alarm twice though trying to put a good crusts lol
Might need to do the sears outside haha

i'm making some homemade applesauce right now cuz we had a bunch of apples that needed something done to em before they go bad, and completely unrelated i'm gonna be making some salmon filets for dinner tonight, with some leftover roasted veggies on the side and maybe some black beans or fried cabbage from in the freezer or something.

yeah, it would. i do have some pork chops in the freezer. i forgot to get some beans soaking last night for the bean soup i was wanting to make today, so i think i am gonna pull the pork out and do that for dinner tonight. me and my mom were already talking about how that would have went well with the applesauce.

yeah, it was! i couldn't decide whether i wanted to put my pork rub on there (which i mostly use for ribs), or bread and fry em, so i did both! it was really flavorful, but unfortunately the breading mostly wanted to fall off when you cut into it.

Did you rub the pork chops then bread them or did you mix the rub in with the breadcrumbs/batter?

i rubbed them, let them set for a bit, and then did the egg batter and the breading x2.

cooking polish sausage/kielbasa in the air fryer for supper tonight.

Not the most photogenic thing Im happy with how my sausage cabbage soup turned out. Think Ill leave the recipe here in case I want to make it again:
1qt Vegetable Stock
1lb Boars Head Hot Sausage
1 Head Cabbage, cored & chopped
14.5oz Can Fire-Roasted Tomatoes
12oz Lager (I used Modelo Especial)
2 Tbsp Butter
1 Yellow Onion, diced
2 Leeks, peeled & diced
1 Large Carrot (or 2 small), peeled & sliced
1/2 Red Bell Pepper, sliced (I julienned then sliced the strips in half horizontally)
5 Small Red Potatoes, cubed
5 Cloves Garlic, minced
1 Tbsp Tomato Paste
1 Tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
1 Tbsp Smoked Paprika
1 Tsp Thyme
1 Tsp Mustard Seed
1 Tsp Pepper (plus more, as needed)
1 Tsp Salt (plus more, as needed)
1/2 Tsp Pepper Flakes
1/8 Tsp Mace
2 Beef Bouillon Cubes (the stock I used was homemade & unsalted, so if youre using salted Id probably use one cube at most)
2 Bay Leaves
i made that ham hock and bean soup for dinner. i'm not gonna get to shredding up the ham hock tonight though, nor am i gonna get to the confetti cornbread. i'm beat. the residual abdominal pain from my hernia and its repair surgery is acting up a lot today, and so was my lower back pain, although the physical therapy appointment i had this morning helped with that.

but if i get around to that tomorrow, i will probably post pics.

Just ground beef. Not bourgeois enough for lamb unless I was making it for a special occasion or something.

Anyone have a recommended recipe for corned beef (as in making the corned beef itself, not using corned beef as an ingredient)
Made a pot of goulash. It's delicious.

Going to the Mexican grocery across town in a minute for soup ingredients. Dont think theres anything I need from there I cant just get from my local grocery (besides one cactus leaf I was gonna grill & chunk) but the produce theres pretty decent in general also I just like the place.
Made some quiche with ham, green onions, white mushrooms, and spinach as the toppings, sprinkled with a fiesta blend of cheese. With a side of fried plantains. So damn good

Jasmine rice, canned chicken, diced avocado and hot sauce
