Pro wrestling refs are meant to be gullible idiots.

The Rocky refs really arent that bad, aside from Rocky IV. In that movie, the Rocky/Drago fight was allowed to have late hits, tackling, slams, cornermen running into the ring constantly, and Drago even attacked his own cornerman.

Oh yeah, and a ref allowed a death to occur in an exhibition match.

Rocky IV refs >> Pro wrestling refs >>>> All other Rocky refs

Boxing in Rocky is portrayed unrealistically enough that it's hard for me to have any real problem with the referees. WWE refs are worse. I get that they're supposed to be easily distracted when the heels need to cheat, or that they might be knocked unconscious by a stiff breeze if the match requires it, but it comes across as if the referees are incredibly stupid people who have not learned anything from a job they've been doing for decades.

The Rocky universe has a weird way of making a strategy out of Get the shit beaten out of you so an opening arises. Like, in the Rocky/Creed rematch, in the final round, Creed starts out by pummeling Rocky, leading him to the corner and the Mickey starts screaming Now!, as if Apollo fell into their trap:

I don't know about urinals. Half the guys are afraid to use them and most who aren't afraid can't hit them

This was my thinking as well, all those fights should have basically been stopped by the third round.
Rocky cant even see by the fifth round when fighting Creed in Rocky 2.

WWE refs bungle the shit out of matches but no ones been killed like Apollo Creed was in Rocky IV
