I'm thinking about starting over now that I understand things a bit more. I turned off Perma Death and I'm losing a few units, which should be fine, but I can't really replace them because I can't train them from the low starting level and they just insta die on the next map. Maybe put the fresh recruits into a Ranged unit's Squad so the Range unit can attack without fear of Counter?
