This game feels like it has a "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" thing about it.

Like, it looks like a ridiculously mediocre game with massive glaring issues, and should not be supported on those grounds alone, but on the flip side if this sells like shit you know they're just going to use it as justification to cancel whatever series they may have planned, rather than stepping back and doing a critical analysis on why it failed and improving on that.

At this point I'm willing to support any project GameFreak does that looks like it's actually taking risks. The Pokemon games have always been jank. Expecting technical competency from Pokemon is like expecting good acting in Power Rangers. >_>

Animations are terrible? When have they not been? G/S animations had like, two frames, and relied on simple gestures like blinking eyes to look more alive. Gen 3 used shitty ass automatic animation techniques that looked like an amateur adobe flash game. Gen 4 animations are all having seizures, and Gen 5 had some real ambition with bringing the animations to life, at the cost of looking like a complete pixelated explosion of fuck.

Like for 20 years Pokemon has had shit animation in its mainline games. This isn't anything new. <_<

I'm honestly not sure if Gamefreak really is incompetent in the graphics department or it's TPC forcing them to rush the game out. Either way it doesn't look particularly great...like it's from the Gamecube era or something.

GameFreak insists on remaining a small studio. They could easily expand into a large enough team to handle the workload in the time allotted, but they insist on running things like it's still 1999 over there.

Wouldnt it need to be mostly empty so you can sneak up on a Sandshrew without alerting other nearby Pokemon? Also, wasnt everyone hoping for BotW: Pokemon Edition? BotW is mostly empty. Regardless, it still looks more interesting than any Pokemon title has for like a decade now, so Im still cautiously optimistic.

Tbh my main concern is the crafting mechanic. Pokemon already pushes the boundary between "fun" and "tedious" enough as it is.

If it's largely passive, where you can make all your essential items with basic ingredients you find along the main path, then whatever.

But if I'm gonna have to grind materials just to have Pokeballs or some shit Im probably gonna pass lol

I'm gonna skip this. They said Sword was going to be the free roam revamped revolution but it didn't happen. Nintendo took forever to bring Pokemon to the console. Someone really stupid is at the head of Pokemon and doesn't want it to be as big as it could be.

You know, the other day I was thinking about Pokemon GO and it was just odd to think that no other companies wanted to emulate that business model. It was SO POPULAR. How did we not get a slew of other games just like it? It just made me think that what if some people got paid off NOT to make a game because everyone would be getting in car accidents.

There are plenty of Pokemon GO clones. There's a Harry Potter one, a Pikmin one, a Jurassic Park one.
