They made it clear that going forward though that there's gonna be a 10 dollar charge for upgrades for first party exclusives
I'm far from high end, I just know what suits me.

So does that mean they're going to drop the price of the PS5 versions $10?

Because if you can buy the PS4 version and then get the PS5 version for free, why the fuck would you pay an extra $10 for a PS5 version?
I checked the thread on Reddit and lmaoooooooo people are so goddamn fucking embarrassing.

Yes, we are hungry.
If you protest, it's because you feel your voice isn't being heard. If you riot, it's because you feel your voice is being ignored.

To get the proper game on the disc instead of having to download it I guess.

It's pretty obvious they didn't intend crossgen games to release so late and these games were probably meant to be $60. The only reason this game has a free upgrade is because it was specifically name dropped in a blog last year lol

idk but that's way too pro-consumer for Sony. They'd have to incentivize buying the superior version outright whether it's by PS5-only updates or features or at the very worst, fucking up all the PS4 copies so they run like Cyberpunk lol

The amount of people calling the $10 upgrade fee 'fair' is sad.

It's not a huge sum and it's not as bad as what they originally announced but it's still rather shitty. There's only a few companies doing it. Sony, EA sports games, Activision and 2K sports games. Not exactly a group of pro-consumer companies for Sony to stand with. I honestly wonder if people would think it's 'fair' if Sony didn't also do it.

Lol so I can buy the PS4 version for $10 less and still get the PS5 version? Maybe they should do some smart delivery shit man.

Wanna know the funniest part? It's the same thing for the PSN versions.

So you can either pay $70 for just the PS5 version or pay $60 for PS4 and PS5.

People really downplayed how good Smart Delivery was last year. Sony's handling of their crossgen titles is complete nonsense.

I think prior to the consoles releasing Smart Delivery just seemed like a "haha no shit" kind of thing. It's mindblowing how poorly Sony has handled all of this. I really don't think they'll have it figured out by the end of this generation.
Should just release games on steam OH WAIT
thats not what they said at all. they said that all launch titles would have a free upgrade path.

Horizon Forbidden West is not a launch game.

holy shit people can't read.

And yet it was specifically listed as an example

But hey let's just say that for some bizarre reason they included it in the same paragraph for no reason because technically the final sentence does specify launch games.

But then Jim Ryan also said this;
While it wasnt mentioned in Sonys official announcement, developers of certain games later confirmed that PS5 exclusives like Horizon: Forbidden West and Spider-Man: Miles Morales arent exclusive at all. Theyre both releasing PS4 versions, which may irritate a few Sony fans who took to heart Sonys commitment to next gen development. The belief is that developing games across generations stifles creativity, and hampers the technological ambitions of the game, since it has to cater to an audience with less powerful machines.

No one should be disappointed, Ryan said. The PS5 versions of those games are built from the ground up to take advantage of the PS5 feature set, and we have an upgrade path for PS4 users to get the PS5 versions for free. Its about people having choice. Im really quite pleased about the situation.

They're not gonna backtrack the way they did if they didn't fuck up their messaging.
