Bought it for my birthday today and it just finished downloading. I can't wait to play. Gonna start off with hammer or great sword. Lemme know if you have any tricks or tips for me!

Hit the monsters till they stop moving.

Learn to use the wirebug, seriously.

Just do it, mobility, combos, and recovery... you should be using it a lot.

Getting used to the new additional wirebug controls is weird but the new attacks they offer a really cool. I'm not sure what I did, or if this replaces the old mounting system, but I rode an Azuros earlier which was really cool. But I also dismounted immediately since I didn't know what I was doing.

Btw which quests should I do first, village or hub quests?

I don't know tbh -- I'm pretty sure the only difference is that village = solos, and hub = online. You can do hub solo, but you can't do village online.

I am happy to be corrected though because I'm only at like 2-3 stars on each

Read the sintructions about the Wire Bug. Can't stress this enough.
Learn how to Wire Bug. It feels a bit like you're crack Spider-man, but you need to accept it as a mechanic that you use, especially after taking a big hit.

Do the village quests first since they're basically a tutorial. They also give you quests near the end so that you'll be able to skip to High Rank in the hub.

The wirebug recovery move (ZL + B after getting hit) is a real game changer that you should get used to using right away. Take advantage of mounting your dog when it makes sense to as well, as the extra speed can help a lot in evading fast monsters or finding openings against them.

So I've been farming the Tetranadon recently since it looks amazing and I want its armor set. I have all the pieces except for malachite ore.

Anyone know where to find mining spots yet?

Also I made it to 3* village quests so far. Haven't done any of the hub quests yet.

Any recommended armor sets/weapons for low rank? I crafted a set of Tetranadon armor and am using the Iron Hammer (only upgraded once). I need to find light crystals to upgrade my hammer more though.

So doing village quests will now raise your HR? I got an urgent quest from the village quest lady that raised my HR to 2. I haven't touched any hub quests though.

Also about turf wars. Is there anyway to see the turf war fully play out? Whenever one happens, one monster ends up in a mountable state and they don't really fight back. I think I had one properly play out though. Earlier today (the urgent quest mentioned above) I had to hunt an Akonosom and a Rathian and the Rathian curb stomped the fuck out of the Akonosom. Was amazing to watch.

Getting started on it again too.
Frostmourne hungers.
Village quest level is unrelated to HR. You complete hub urgents to raise your HR.

In Rise you can raise HR just by the village quests. I was HR 4 before doing any hub quests.
Work in progress, please be patient.
Oh, my bad. How does that work? Not sure I understand.

I completed all village quests and I still needed to do a hub urgent to go from HR3 to 4.

you do village quests and they give you an exam quest where you usually have to kill 2 monsters and it'll move you up a HR level, theres 3
yes
So that's why my hr got raised. I was confused and thought it was going to raise my village quest level.

The first "exam" was a fun quest though.

DONT WASTE AMY KAMURA TICKETS YOU ARE GIVEN

I probably did. Most "tutorial" text is stuff I already know from playing other MH games.

I'll keep this in mind. I don't think I've gotten any yet but I'll save them up.

Not totally sure myself. I was farming for low rank stuff and an urgent popped up. Ranked up after doing that one. Then continued farming and it happened a couple more times. I'm guessing it's based off the number of quests as they popped up as I was completing the same one repeatedly.
Work in progress, please be patient.
I beat Magnamalo yesterday and wow that was the hardest fight I've had so far. An Aknosom saved my ass by starting a turf war with it when I was on my last cart and down by a lot of health. Allowed me to run away and recover hp and then I was able to ride it and deal damage to it.

Amazing monster, very scary to fight but a fun experience. I will say tho, that the main story was very short. I don't know if its because I played too much of it at once, but it felt like the credits rolled sooner than I expected.

I got my first 5 Kamura tickets after beating the Magnamalo but don't really know what to do with those just yet. Right now I'm thinking about farming a set of Somnacanth gear and switching over to the Long Sword for a while.
