Daniel Radcliffe has said he is able to take creative risks with the films he stars in, a luxury he believes he owes to his early success in the Harry Potter franchise.
The actor shot to worldwide fame aged 11 after his debut as Harry Potter. He starred in the fantasy series for 10 years, earning an estimated fortune of $95.6m (68.2m) for his work in the franchise. Speaking to Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood in this months Empire magazine, Radcliffe said: Ive actually found its an incredibly liberating thing, to do the biggest thing youre ever gonna do really fucking early.
The financial success thing, thats done. So just do things that make you happy. And I definitely get a sense of that from your career, Elijah. Like, for every director out there that was like, I can only see him as Harry Potter, there was at least one that said, PS4 looks great, I wonder if hell do this really fucking weird thing? And I did! Radcliffes most left-field roles following Harry Potter include his full-frontal performance as a boy who is sexually attracted to a horse in the play Equus and his portrayal of a talking corpse whose erection is used as a compass in Swiss Army Man.
Wood agreed with Radcliffes comments. Yeah, he said. I would have said the exact same thing if you hadnt articulated it. Your career is so rad. You make such fun choices.

I don't think he's nearly as good an actor as the roles he seems to get all the time, but I respect his integrity a lot.

I kind of figured that was the case. When you dont ever have to worry about money again you can just do shit you love.
Yeah, he's set for life. He's a huge fan of cheesy/campy/weird movies, and can take roles in these kinds of films without worrying about financial failure.
...I think I'm done here...
To be fair, if I was an actor that could take pretty much any role I wanted without fear of financial repercussions, I'd be all over things like Swiss Army Man, too.
Swiss Army Man was my favorite movie that came out that year. Glad hes doing things hes passionate about, and he seemingly realizes how lucky he is to be able to do them. Seems like a good dude.
You don't have to put my thighs in the microwave.
Guns Akimbo was fun as hell
He was pretty good in the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Choose Your Own Adventure special.

On top of the base salary he got for the HP series, does anyone know if he gets royalties? Cuz then yeah, he's set for friggin life lol. I mean with the base 90+ mil he's set for life already unless he's a mad dumbass but yeah
