Pretty much a child raised with so much privalage and by such awful parents that they cant be held accountable for their actions?

Watched a story of a teen who walked aware with no jail time, after killing 4 people, and injuring a dozen others in a horrible car crash.

I wouldnt be totally opposed to it being a consideration in a reduced sentence provided two things happen:

1) the culprit is forced into a mandatory, in-patient, mental rehabilition program for no shorter than the length of what would have been a jail sentence

2) recognizing that the parents had crippled this person to the point that they are incapable of holding themselves accountable (because thats part of the affluenza argument, after all), hold them criminally liable.

But I doubt either of those would happen so...

Hell no, the poor aren't afforded the same considerations for their situation. Giving the rich an out like that is obviously classist and racist
No, but i also don't think "this conviction will ruin a promising career" is a suitable argument for reducing a punishment either, and i'm sure i've been seeing more of that lately.
You're so vain,
You probably think this sig is about you.
No, rich people need harsher punishments because they get away with so much.
we should get rid of the criminal justice system entirely and start over from scratch
But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
I recognize that there is an effect of being in a higher class on morals and whatnot.

I don't recognize that it should result in any change of punishment in the court.

Pretty sure rich people know Kill people bad, rape people bad.
Fuck no. That would be like saying someone who grew up in an area with lots of theft and murder shouldn't be charged because they think that's normal.

Only if it works the other way as well and the courts grant leniency in the face of poverty-driven desperation.

that sounds fair, well except the parents being held criminally liable. just make them financially liable
