Gonna have to go with 3 Blue overall, but 6 is great and 5 Double Team is also really good

They're all pretty much the same
3 was the first one I played and easily my favorite in the series.

1, 2, 3 and Battle Chip Challenge are fantastic. 4 through 6 were fun but kinda boring. Probably was burned out by then.
Do good.
Hard choice between 2 and 3, but I'll give the edge to 2.

Yeah, if I had to pick it'd be tough but I'd probably pick 2. But dammit 3. But 2. But 3. Fuck. Such fantastic games. The storylines were great, the music was great. 3 had more side-stuff to do, and more post-game content. But 2 was so fresh because of the styles and Bass.

1 was also fantastic. I absolutely loved it, although I did play it first.
Do good.
I wanna give some credit to 6 here. While it didn't really do anything new (save for beast forms I guess), everything it did do was done incredibly well, and the change to a new town with new characters helped the game feel fresh. It was the perfect send off to the series

I personally felt 3 would have been a better place to end the series; though that doesn't make 6 bad, but it's not nearly as dramatic as 3's ending. Also, the second half of the series just feels so overly different.

Anyway, I'd rank best as somewhere between 3, 5, & 6. 3 has the most plot, tension, & post game content. 5 makes the soul system so much more satisfying & I actually liked liberation missions. 6 just feels like the pinnacle of everything that worked & made the series so enjoyable.

2, 3 and 6 are my top 3 anyway, and all have their own advantages and disadvantages. 2 has my favorite Navis, scenario and world. 3 has my favorite post-game content. 6 has the best features and the fewest frustrating parts (e.g. the FreezeMan/BubbleMan/FlameMan parts in 2 and 3 and the NaviCust program to go on narrow walkways in 3).

Overall, I usually go for 3, because the post-game is really that good. 6 I sometimes choose for its particularly enjoyable core gameplay. 2 is the first one I played, so I have the most fond memories of that one.
The one flaw of 6 was the danger theme playing even after you beat the game the first time. How could they get that right on the others but fuck up th last one in the series?

Oh yeah, that is massively annoying.

iirc they ended up fucking that up again in Star Force 1

3 by far, but I actually like the "little" artstyle of the back half. Probably 6 is second best, followed by Double Team.

Edit: OP...Blue was my favorite...a-are you me?

No love for Battle Chip Challenge?

It's fun little game. I wish it was a little more complex

2 is the most solid overall, every scenario is good, everything comes in * so you can play around as you like, even without the unlockable hard mode a healthy difficulty balance

3 has higher highs than 2 but lower lows, some of its scenarios are just insufferable, but the amount of content can't be beat and the mechanics are probably the most solid of any of the games except 6 for multiplayer

5 is almost top tier with 2 and 3 but the game has blatant issues with chip code synergy balance and fucking everything makes enemies flinch which drags out endgame fights a lot, especially the post-credits Liberation Missions, if you're a stop at he credits kind of guy though it never becomes a problem though

6 has like the opposite problem from 5 where all your tools are so strong that the game just becomes a snoozefest even if you hold back, and your overwhelming surges of power don't have the flair needed to make them satisfying on their own, also worse Computer dungeons than 1~3 and 5 and worse Internet than basically any of them bar 1

4 is kind of a mess with all the backtracking and shitty minigames, but at least its battle mechanics are solid enough since it's post-NaviCust

1's Internet maps alone put it at the bottom plus the core mechanics are at their shakiest being the start of the series

So goooooood
Do good.
