If we did not have the 2nd amendment things would be far worse for the USA.
For the non americans, 2nd amendment is like free speech right?

Right to keep and bear arms.
Oh my bad. Well the reason for it seems obvious, when you can't trust your government to do their job its up to you.
Some people think it's good to be able to defend themselves in the most efficient manner from violent, armed criminals.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
@sobergermanguy
No it actually is not, criminals never follow laws to begin with and get weapons illegally through the black market. Why do you think the law prohibits felons the right to bear arms ?
I think the USA would be far better off updating the 2nd amendment to meet standards of a modern society. Right now the 2nd amendment is just rather vague and was written at a time when guns were single shot and took time to reload while also being pretty inaccurate.
the second amendment is why we still have the freedom of speech.

All the countries with no law similar to the second amendment seem to be doing just fine in that department

Irrelevant, had they better weapons, they would've still liked them no?
