The poll options are bad. You should've said "a rifle" instead of "a hunting rifle."

Yup.

I own multiple guns, including an AR-15.

I plan to buy another this year as well.

isn't something like a glock more expensive than an ar 15, not too familiar
No because thankfully I live in a country without a gun fetish.

A Glock is about $600 and an AR-15 is about $800-$1000, IIRC.

Several but oddly enough I doubt I'm in the top 5 on CE.

No. I don't trust myself with my mental illness, I don't want a gun in the house with four young kids, and we live in a wealthy neighborhood with low crime rates and great police response times, so I don't see the need nor do I have a desire to get one.

no, but I've fired one before

We have a Glock in the house. I'd love to purchase an AR-15, but that will have to wait till I move out of California.

A California compliant AR-15 is a pathetic joke and I'd rather wait than to waste money on a neutered piece of crap.

California gun laws are disgusting.

Lol and people thinking gun control is disgusting is why the the rest of the third worlds sees the US as so backwards.

Range shooting, I'd rather have a shotgun for home defense.

you can spend what you want on custom shit but a glock is usually cheaper than an ar-15

both start at around 4 to 500 dollars really but there's a lot more people that would tell you a $2000 AR is more practical than a $2000 glock.

take pistols to 0% chance of encounters

take rifles and shotguns to 1% or higher. what I've always been told. So to elaborate, I'm gonna use an AR-15 when I know I'm going into some shit. Don't plan on that happening, but things are crazy these days, we got psychos shooting up everything.

Anyone here actually built their own AR?
I have a pretty low tier bushmaster and been thinking about building one with a decent optic.

Yeah but the piston vs gas stuff, whether torque specs really matter, etc

build one, buy one, all the same shit

I have a lower right now and some pieces of an upper. my goal is to throw together an functioning ar-15 in 5.56 that costs me less than 300 bucks (i'm on 110 right now, still need barrel, upper, bcg, might be a tad over if I want it to actually work).
p226
I mean, they probably dont have to be 100% but several auto shop stores will loan a torque wrench so you might as well do it right.

they were getting rid of old model Sig MCX's for 1000 bucks the other day, missed a good buy if you're looking for a good piston AR (that one even can fold at the stock and fire, no buffer tube design).

for just normal shooting? yes. if you moved you could switch things out. if something really happened and everything went to hell no one is going to care and it can be easily switched back. not that im advocating that of course..

yes i have and no they arnt. its very easy and you can get build kits for $350-400. tools for doing it are cheap and really you only need a few things. palmetto sells FN cold hammer forged barrels that you can build around for $600-700 for everything and you basically get something just as good as a colt 6920 for $200-300 less (not going to have the resale value though).

I got a shotgun and a 22lr rifle. For those who can't get an AR-15 for legal reasons, you might want to look into the Ruger Mini 14.

Eh, I'm not that concerned, just shit or get off the pot stuff. Kinda want to build an SBR in blackout, or a range rifle with 6.5m.

I just need to buy the lower and decide from there.
