well you can just look in that topic about the asteroids that turned into a trainwreck

but I see it that might be some kind of force or energy that is behind the structure of the universe. I like to compare it to the Force in Star Wars just for an easy translation of what I am saying. but when I do that, people think I am saying I actually believe in the Star Wars Force. and that's not it at all. it's a very abstract thing. the best way I can put is that this energy has some kind of intelligence but not something that humans can comprehend and it doesn't think like us or like the normal gods earth usually believes in who are based on humans. maybe think of that "god" that Bender met in that lost in space episode of Futurama. except instead of a collection of computer parts or stars or whatever it was, it's something you can't see or touch.

well partly from some of the things people like Carl Sagan and Albert Einstein used to say. but also it just makes sense to me. if there is a God, I feel like that is the most logical form. it doesn't make sense to me that the creator of the universe would have a personality like a human or be anything that we could comprehend. but maybe it's also from my interest in eastern religions and philosophies.

I believe in this:

Any sort of god? No.
If a "higher being" is one which has control over human life, then no. If it's more just some sort of being/species that is generally superior to humans, then I hope there is one - it'd be a sad reflection on the universe that we're the best it has managed to produce after this much time.

In regards to the first part of your post, right I don't think that's what they mean either. In regards to the second part, it just feels like people are labeling it "god" just to label it god and call it god...cause they feel like it? And I just don't see the point personally.

No. We don't live in a world that looks anything like what you'd expect if gods were real.

1. The development of life on earth can be explained using natural processes and doesn't seem to require any kind of intervention to occur. It certainly doesn't appear that humans are favored over other kinds of animals like religions would have us expect.

2. Miracles are non-existent. I did some research a few years ago, and the fantastic tales of miracles that were told at my church came up as either frauds or heavy distortions. People who are full of cancer don't just go in to their next scan and discover the tumors are all gone; missing limbs don't grow back. The only thing prayers to gods can seemingly "fix" is things medicine and surgery can fix, or are known to get better on their own. Correcting for other factors, it doesn't even seem like believers in one religion live any longer or are any healthier than believers of other religions. Many believers are defensive about discussing miracles---and rightly so, because most of them look like the good luck that everyone has once in a while.

3. Virtually every deity conceived of by man has some interest in human affairs and has things they wish for us to know about or do. How do gods communicate this knowledge to people? Through gut feelings, dreams, ancient texts with multiple interpretations, and through the words of people with special knowledge who call themselves prophets (and are often proven liars or con men). Can't gods do better than that?

4. While we don't yet know everything about the physical laws of the universe, no concrete observational or experimental evidence has ever been uncovered that suggest there is anything supernatural at all. There doesn't seem to be any room for gods, devils, or spirits in the way the universe works. And the lack of evidence of any of them taking any action is hardly surprising in light of that.

A study of near death experiences was undertaken, with one of the things they looked for was people actually being able to look down on their body during a near death experience. The results were negative. Moreover, if you take the time to read accounts of near death experiences, the "wisdom" people share often turns out to be wrong or is completely contradictory. People also tend to experience an afterlife like the one from their culture and religion. Is Jesus being accommodating when he dresses up like the Buddha?

Well if you think about it, the universe "designed us" the universe either at some point had to create itself from nothing or it has always existed and will probably have no end just change. Scientists believe there can't be nothing because nothing is unstable.

Aye. I believe a god/goddess/higher being exists, but I cannot bring myself to trust in churches or people in general to lead us to find the 'correct' one.

Religion is clearly man made. But it incorporates philosophical ideas that surely existed before religion which are worth exploring, one of which is god.

In higher dimensions, what we perceive as separate points in time and space, are one. All interactions are exchanges of information. Our knowledge and perception are a result of a rich system of interactions with itself and the outside world. These interactions are no different than any other in the universe. It's conceivable that consciousness is an innate attribute in everything even when something doesn't have a sophisticated enough system for what we think of as consciousness to arise. We also know we have will because we can make decisions.

So it's not farfetched to say that in the highest dimension, all that is, all l knowledge, all will, at every point in space and time is one. The nature of this entity can only be speculated on. My best guess is it is imperfect but I won't explain why.

I think it's just a way to feel a little better about things. Because yeah, functionally it's no different from atheism.

It's more that I see the universe has qualities that are commonly attributed to concepts of God, and find them indistinguishable. It's not atheism for me at least because I lean on the side that there may be an outside "will" (or at least source of influence) that's less naturalistic.

I get the argument of saying this concept of God is just atheism, though I disagree as I draw meaning from labeling the universe as God (namely it is worthy of praise and find it a source of moral inspiration).
