Keeping the same main character but switching mythologies is such a silly concept IMO

I was never into these games, but I would have definitely preferred the old direction as opposed to the one the new game is taking, so no.

Yes, it looks good.
Voted "not on the 20th, but by the end of the year," but honestly I don't know if I will by then or not. I suppose if it gets super cheap on Black Friday I might. Like the series but as others have said this looks a lot different, and I'm pretty limited in time to play and have a huge backlog, so just not feeling the need to get it day one and bump it to the top of my play list.
I guess if reviews and word of mouth are incredible I may reconsider getting it sooner, though.

i posted this in the other God of War topic but it still stands:
God of war, like many games back in the good ol days , had its own identity. fixed camera angle, beat em up gameplay, tons of gore and nudity, hyper masculine, ultra pissed off protagonist, etc. all of it made god of war what god of war is, whether you like it or not.
nowadays most AAA single player games have pretty much rolled into becoming the same thing. over-the-shoulder camera, "emotional" storyline, light RPG elements, etc. they're designed to appeal to the largest audience possible, which in this case are casual gamers who didnt enjoy video games before they became more like movies.
I have never played the new God of War but I can guarantee it will be loaded with moments where Kratos and his son must walk slowly and talk, there will probably be some dumbass busywork element like crafting, etc. It is God of War in the sense that the devs tacked on Kratos to sell the game to Sony fans based on brand recognition, but it will play like every other game in the faceless genre
