Regarding family, we just make jokes about all our differences. Its not that hard to steer clear of arguments, if you do not consider it your personal mission to convert others to whatever your pet ideology happens to be.

My blood family ... yeah ... there's a lot of beef there. We pretty much disagree on it all.

They're very conservative extremely bigoted Christians.
I'm a bisexual transgender liberal atheist. >_>

Thankfully I'm the only one between us that knows how deep that rabbit hole goes; they think I'm just the same as them. I have successfully infilitrated the enemy :3
