There's no rules if someone just attacks you.
If its a fair fight where both are willing then:
No attacks to balls, eyes or throat. Avoid hitting to mouth as well.
No kicking while down.
Locks and choking is pathetic imo, but not against any unwritten rules.

People will use whatever means are available to them to defend themselves. If there are guns available they may well use them, but if there aren't guns available, they definitely won't.

I mean, I agree with its utility, but I would be reluctant to pull out this move because it has a chance of killing a person.
So perfectly useful if you feel like your life is in danger.

The best thing to do in a heated situation is to try and talk it out, or run away if it's safe for you and others.
I live in a big house and it's handy to have a pair of running shoes so that it doesn't take me forever to get from one area of the house to another.

I've actually done this before when I was 12. Kid was turning purple in the face and thrashing around, he even bit my hand but I hated him too much for even that to make me let go.
