White Christians only make 43% of AMERICA when it USED to be 80%!! Good or Bad??

Americans who identify themselves as White and Christian have now dropped below 50% as it now stands at 43% when it was 80% 40 years ago!!

The shocking transformation was fueled by immigration and growing number of people who reject organized religion altogether

Christians overall still remain a large majority at 70% but white christians, once the country's religious life now comprise a smaller majority.

4 decades ago it used to be 8 in 10 americans who were white Christians.

There has been drops in membership in predominately white mainline Protestant denominations such as Presbyterians and Lutherans and an increasing Latino presence in the Roman Catholic Church as non-Hispanic white Catholics leave. Even white evangelicals are on the decline which has been viewed as immune to decline

The trends are showing that there is a fueling anxiety abou tthe place of Christians, especially evangelicals who are alarmed by the support for gay marriage and 1/4 who identify with a faith group

Trump who promised to protect religious liberty of Christians drew 80% of the white evangelicals, a constituency that remains among his strongest supporters.

17% of Americans now identify as white evangelical compared to 23% a decade ago

Membership in the conservative Southern Baptist Convention, the largest protestant group dropped to 15.2 Million last year, its lowest since 1990.

Latino and African American Christians have partly obscured the decline among White Christians

White Christians are now a minority in the Democratic Party shrinking from 50 to 29% as 40% of Democrats say they have no religious affliation.
