The Descendant of Confederate General, Robert E Lee has resigned from his post as PASTOR because the church wanted to VOTE on his tenure after he publicly stated "BLACK LIVES MATTER" during the MTV Video Music Awards and praised them!!
He left his position in North Caolina as Robert Lee IV said he decided to leave Bethany United Church of Christ because of the "deeply hurtful" reaction from congregants that were upset over his remarks.
He was a special guest on the show as he gave a speech denouncing his greag great great uncle whom he called "an idol of white supremacy, racism and hate"
He also introduced Susan Bro, the mother of Heather Heyer, a young anti-racism counter protester who was killed by a white supremacist in Charlottesville
Robet Lee IV has publicly stated for his support to remove the statues and said "As a pastor, it is my moral duty to speak out against racism. America's original sin. Today, i call on all of us with privilege and power to answer God's call to confront racism and white supremacy head-on. We can find inspiration in the Black Lives Matter movement, the women who marched in the Women's march in January and especially Heather Heyer, who died fighting for her beliefs"
Apparently his conservative church members were not happy about those remarks, particularly were irked by his mention of support for Black Lives Matter.
Robert said that he wanted to stress that many supported his remarks but was uncomfortable with the people who now despise him over those remaks and decided to leave..
He said "The church's reaction was deeply hurtful to me."
When he found out that the church was going to vote on his future, he decided to leave and addressed his congregation and said "I regret that speaking out has caused concern and pain to my church. For this is, i offer my heartfelt apology. I understand that my views could be considered to be controversial.
I do believe God's role in calling out for positive social change for the good of all."
