Never had any of those kinds of dogs. I have two mixed terrier and I love them. Out of those, I think Collies are the best.

I've never been a dog person, and I never used to like bigger dogs. But now...everyone...and I mean everyone....has a small little shit dog that never shuts up. And they're so spoiled...it makes me sick.
Those small dogs wouldn't last 3 days outside on their own. At least bigger dogs can protect if necessary(some), and seemingly are better behaved in my experience.

All this hating on small dogs smh. I've had large and small dogs. You can train dogs to stop barking on command. So really, you've just seen shitty owners.

Small dogs that don't bark a shitload
mutt with part hound, part working dog (shepherd or the like), weighing between 40-80 pounds.
Probably go with labs. Although that's mainly all I've had so kind of biased.

It depends on what you want out of a dog (high vs. low energy etc...). Honestly if I were trying to be objective, it would probably be a Bichon. Tend to be quiet, low shedding (though higher grooming), fairly intelligent but people friendly. Anything crossed with a poodle tends to do well. Labs and Goldens are popular for good reason. Pits are up there but can be very high energy.

Never gone wrong with staffies. Awesome dogs, always well tempered, not overly hypo but not lazy s****s. Easy to look after, great companions. Smart, but not too smart. Cheap as f*** too and no-one will steal them because they are everywhere.
