13 y/o Harlie Smith was killed after her FATHER backed up on her with the Boat and the PROPELLERS severely cut her leg!!

Harlie, from Naples, Florida died after she was caught by the propeller when her father backed the boat up over her, not realizing she was there.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation officials said the 2017, 31-foot Boston Whaler was operated by her Dad, George Smith.

Harlie jumped into the water when she saw a lobster but yelled for her father to reverse...but not knowing she was directly behind the boat, he ended up reversing over her and the propeller severely cut her right leg where she lost a lot of blood and died as a result of the injury

Her brother, George and mother, June and a family friend, 22y y/o Michael Miller were not injured

Most parents I have met are paranoid crazy about knowing exactly where their kids are, in a situation like this I find it hard to believe the father could be this stupid and ignorant of where his little girl was before doing ANYTHING with the boat, let alone he did not want her "where he could see her" before moving the boat an inch.

I am implying he was a fucking idiot at best who did not pay attention to wear his child was, or he did not care which makes him a shit parent who killed his kid.

That's what doesn't add up. Why would she tell him to reverse if she was right behind the boat? How would he not notice that she jumped out the boat and was behind it? He had to have heard where her voice came from or saw her jump so there's no way he couldn't have known she was there. And why didn't he look back while reversing? This smells like a cover up. He messed up his story bigly

I take better care of my two dogs then this man took care of his child knowing where she was, and if she said "reverse dad" he should have told her "could around front so I can see you".

This is what I was talking about. Dad makes a horrible mistake that has probably traumatized him, but this is the internet so none of us consider his humanity at all. He's "an idiot" or worse his story "doesn't add up," and we imply he did it on purpose.

This was a 31 foot boat for one. It's completely believable that he looked back and still didn't see where she was. This is like the equivalent of backing up in an SUV with an object right behind the rear tires. It's going to be in your blind spot.
