For family gatherings during major holiday events, would you disinvite family members from your home or not visit their home because they hold a opposing political ideology from yourself?

What is more important to you?

Politics over Blood, or Blood over Politics?

yeah but that'd just be a cover to not do a holiday gathering. those things are a pain in the ass.
Family first
vickfan-chucky they hated Jesus homie
chuckyhacks-who teh hell is "jesus homie"
My dad's a staunch religious Conservative and we get along fine. A few of my extended relatives hold...pretty bigoted views, but I can't imagine them not being there at family gatherings.

Blood means nothing to me, so that's out.

Politics don't matter much either...unless they were, like, a Nazi I guess. Aside from that, I have friends all over the political spectrum. We're cool with each other.

I don't give a shit what someone believes politically as long as we can spend a few hours not discussing politics at all

I concur.

I would only exclude them if they were excessively forceful about their views.

My uncle is absolutely paranoid of Muslims. He's really really wary whenever he comes over because my neighbours are brown and he literally thinks they're going to blow us up. The fact they're Christian Egyptians doesn't really stop him.
I was in my aunt's car and we passed by what seemed to be a trio of black high schoolers walking home from school and she spent the rest of the drive complaining there are too many black people in the city.
They also don't like gay people, being hardcore Christians.

Common Hong Konger views regarding black, Indian, and mainland Chinese people in general as well. Gatherings are fine as long as you don't mention some sort of those groups, I guess, but they'll spend the rest of the time talking about them if you bring it up.

Depends how we're defining "political ideology."

This. As long as the conversation stays away from these topics, I don't care about their views.
PONG WAS REAL? I thought that was just a story parents told kids to scare them
I would do it on purpose to invite the most radical left and right wing people possible, then bring up Trump innocently and get the popcorn
I don't hate people, people hate me.
My mom's side is all hardcore liberals unfortunately. My mom loves to bring up Trump but other than that things still function

Family is more important, for me at least. When the money is spent, the friends have left, the government fails as they so often do, and life inevitably turns dark, I can really only count on my family to be there by my side. That does not mean my family is perfect by any stretch of the imagination, and it is true that we don't all agree on important issues, but we are always there for each other when we are needed.

I understand not everyone feels the same way because everyone has a different family experience.
