Do you have kids or pets, if no, then go off-white. Whatever color you get, make sure the padding is thick for maximum comfort. I, personally, can't stand thinly padded carpeting.

Tan. The main reason I bought my house was the tan carpeting.

It should go without saying that you shouldn't go for white if you have pets/kids or are prone to food accidents frequently. It'll be trashed within a few months by those alone.

Yup. I've worked with hundreds realtors and they all tell me the same thing.

In order to resell a home the fastest is to go with beige walls, white ceilings and trim, and off-white/tan carpeting.

Yeah I live in Arizona and white carpet with fake tile in kitchen and bath is the norm around here. Was sold qhen I bought it with the beige carpet, grey tile and green walls. A little more expensive than I wanted but I'm happy with it. Recent remodel/overhaul was a nice bonus too.
