I used to work with a girl who was openly gay. Only gay enough to come on to me though. Short hair, but like a poor (very poor) man's Halle Berry.
I wanted to smash so bad.
Found out she was actually trans, only wanted to smash harder and now time was of the essence.
She is now transitioned and my chance has passed.

And honestly it's much less dramatic than people think it is. I honestly believe half the hate transgenders get are from people who have never actually met one.
And just assume "Transgender" is at worst perverted rapist and at best this:
The ultimate irony is that trans people are just random dudes, they worry about paying the gas bill and play Zelda.
The only major difference comes from the way people react to them, not anything they do.

a dude i was friends with in high school came out as trans after we graduated, but we've drifted apart and i've only seen him/her once since s/he came out

No, I've never even talked to one, as far as a know. I'd have nothing against them, though, if I did meet a transgender person.
